#1) Exercise #2) Drink lots of water and eat fruit. #3) Eat healthy food. As soon as you wake up in the morning, get out of bed, eat an apple, down one glass of water and exercise. Then you'll be ready for a big healthy breakfast. That big healthy breakfast will make you forget about food for almost an entire day, if you do it right. I have done this with great success, at least for a week until I got lazy again. |

Adults sometimes have more acne then teens. Drink water, take vitamins, eat better. And take a good look at how you care for your skin. Over cleansing or using the wrong products or even not moisturizing can easily cause you to break out. Many people find washing with just honey (the less processed the better) followed by a good facial moisturizer does wonders for their skin. If you are seriously interested there is a website called makeupalley. They have discussion boards and one is for skin. Lots of helpful info there. They can help lead you in the right direction whether you want to go basic (honey or Olive oil) or if you want to spend tons of money (high end brands). They will have recs based on your skin type and issues.

You have to take action. Do cardio and sweat alot. Goto saunas, that can help. Eat healthy of course. Try to eat junk food only once a week. Don't use soap to wash your face as that can make it worse. Living a healthy lifestyle is better than any products there are over the counter.

Hi! I know...acne in your twenties is not fun, feels kind of unfair doesn't it. I broke out in spots, big, red, scarring ones all over my upper body about a year ago, much worse than when I was in my teens. I'm currently on antibiotics and they are under control now. I have been told that sometimes you have to be on them for a long time for it to make any difference...have you tried all the different meds for at least a few months? In my case, I really don't think it has anything to do with cleansing or what I'm eating/drinking. I have tried cutting out all sorts of food and cleansing regimes and none of it makes a difference. I have also tried looking at it from the point of view of what my acne is showing me about myself and my life that is not in balance. In Louise Hay's book 'You can heal you life', she writes that acne is a physical manifestation of your own attitudes about yourself - namely non-acceptance of the self and dislike of the self. I have found this hard to swallow but am open to looking at it that way. I am wondering whether making certain changes to my life that show more self-acceptance and self-love, plus doing the inner work to make those changes would actually make any difference in my physical condition. It will be interesting to see. Anna |

Straight honey, the less processed the better. There is a natural substance to it which helps fight germs. From what I gather you use a basic cold pressed oilve oil. I am not sure about the honey as I have never tried it but if you use olive oil put it on your dry face. Then add some water to your hands and massage your face. Then wash off.

I believe that the health of the skin has a lot to do with the health of your internal organs, especially the digestive organs. When the body cannot properly eliminate toxins through the intestines, kidneys and liver, those toxins have to come out and the way is usually through the skin which causes breakouts. If I were you, I would worry about what is happening inside as well as out. You mention a very poor diet, little water and no exercise and I am assuming that you mention these because you are well aware that these are what are causing your problem. It sounds to me as if you know exactly what your body needs and you are ready to go for it. It might help to think that instead of taking food away, you ADD lots of raw fruits and vegetables. Make it a point every day to eat more and more of these and lots of water and eventually, the more healthy food you put in your body, the less junk you will crave. Raw, organic is best. Also, you might try other ways to get your water... I always like a selzer with a splash of cranberry juice or a squeeze of lemon. If you like tea, try some iced chamomile or green tea with lemon. Exercise is also extremely important to keep things moving through the system. Start out by walking 15-30 minutes a day. Better skin days are ahead for you!!! |

I agree with a lot of the comments about eating better to get better skin. Skin care is just as much internal as it is external. I found this video that suggests just eliminating one thing from your diet for a few weeks and see how your skin improves. In this case it was eliminating sugar. Maybe you could eliminate junk food for three weeks and see if your skin improves. Eating Right for Great Skin | PeopleJam |

I agree with all the advice regarding diet and skin problems, however, I am also in my twenties and still have acne. Sometimes I think it's hormonal because I have always followed a healthy diet but my acne never goes away. Also, I noticed that while I've always had acne, it has changed over the years. As a teenager I had more oily skin and red bumps on my forehead and around my chin. Suddenly in my twenties that cleared up and the problem switched to the cheek area, (where there was no acne previously) which is really weird. Also, the type of acne changed, so I now get a few cystic breakouts once in a while, whiteheads, and really weird blackheads all over my cheeks. Sorry for the detailed description, LOL. I know it's kind of gross. The point being, does anyone know about how to treat acne caused by hormones? Nothing really works for me. |
