Someone asked me if they do because of the current bpa scare and i was dumbstruck. i have no idea. i have found some indications, but no real proof that bpa is used in the manufacturing of contact lenses. also, i have been unable to find out what chemicals are used to make a contact lens.

any ideas?

I doubt this information will be easy to come by. I expect that those plastic formulations are considered trade secrets. I also expect that no two types of lenses are exactly alike.

i suppose it may have helped to get replies if i spelled CHEMICALS correctly. jeesh.

Since BPA is in the news, I guess I can narrow down the question: do contacts contain BPA?

It usually lists the type of plastic right on the box.

You are more at risk using saline with thimerisol. It's made from mercury.
