For as long as I can remember I have been tired. During high school I would come home in the afternoon and have a nap as I was so tired. I'm now 27 and am am having problems with my work as a result, as I find it hard to work for a few days without feeling totally shattered the next day. So far I have not be able to get to the bottom of it. I eat pretty healthly (lots of fruit and veg), exercise at the gym, don't drink much, don't smoke, sleep well etc etc. Im going to the doctor to get a blood test for thyroid, anemia etc and am wondering what else I can test or do to try and find out the problem. Thoughs, opinions? |

I have same problem D: I think you have to sleep consistently with your offdays as you do when working days. Otherwise your body sees those days as catching up with your sleep. Its a lot like taking a nap in the middle of the day |

I used to have the same problem but it was caused by a poor diet, dairy allergy and sleep. I now maintain a great energy level by fixing those. You situation is intreguing because for tiredness people usually suggest sleep and diet. From what I've read, if it's not anemia or thyriod, and then I would try an elimination diet (starting with dairy One more thing, how do you sleep? Same bedtime every night? Wakeup time? Duration of sleep? |

I went through a phase where I was feeling very tired in the middle of the day, working in front of the computer and I had to try hard to keep my eyes open. I have been drinking a wellness drink which is based on TAM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) for the last three months and the problem has gone completely despite still working long hours at night in front of the computer. Feel free to send me a private message and I tell you more about it. |

Hi developingperson, and welcome here What exactly is eating pretty healthy for you? And what is lots of fruit & veggies? I thought I was eating pretty healthy in the past too, and I was always tired too. Fact is, I wasn't eating healthy at all. I don't know if it's the case for you, but that's the first thing I can think of. Do you eat grains? Sugar? Meat? Dairy? Just a few examples of things some digestive systems cannot deal with. My advice: cut them off for a few weeks and see if you get better. Good luck! |

One thing I have not got my head around is getting up at the same time every day. As I am a student at the moment I get up at varying times during the morning. What concerns me is if I do a hard days work + go to the gym then I suffer fatigue and feel like I need about 12 hours sleep to recover otherwise I am like a zombie all day. It's as if I can cope with a certain level of work/effort, but if I go over this I am in trouble. Eating healthy for me is eating a balanced diet with low to no processed junk and fruit and vegtables at every meal. I eat a lot of organic stuff, drink soya milk and eat chicken , fish and red meat about twice a month. I was vegetarian for 16 years and so a large part of my diet is made up of vegtables. My one weakness is wheat as I love pasta and pastry etc. The thing is I have friends who drink, smoke, eat rubbish and don't get enough sleep and they have more energy than me! |
