Type II diabetes, the kind you are at risk for, is most commonly caused by a syndrome called insulin resistance. Your pancreas is getting tired of being overburdened with digesting the astonishing amount of sugars we ingest as modern humans. Sugars are: sugar, corn, pasta, bread, rice, grains, wheat, candy, sodas, etc. If you are not on a lower carbohydrate diet, the chromium supplements will be like trying to put out a house fire with a water pistol. Give the poor pancreas a little rest. Exercise everyday and cut down the carbs. I try not to eat more than about 40 grams a day but most people will find that painfully restrictive on the average American diet. But I'd eat zero grams a day if it kept me from getting one of the most insidious and destructive diseases known to mankind. Jennifer |

I had problems with my blood sugar. They went away after I hit the gym regularly. I was told by working out and eating less more often you body is better able to regulate things like that. Diet wise I reduced my carb intake and increased my protein intake. But seriously, ask your doctor before making any significant changes. |

If you often eat candy, sodas and other sugary products look to cut those out first. If you're still having problems then maybe looking at cutting down on the other forms of carbohydrates.

Your body is a refinery. The presence of fiber in whole wheat and corn, brown rice, etc has a mitigating effect on how fast the carbohydrates are absorbed but to your body, all those things are still sugar when it is done breaking them down. Which will still require insulin to process. Which contributes to insulin resistance because of the relatively massive amounts of these foods we consume on a daily basis relative to what we are designed for. Jennifer
