| Hey all, I've just started back on a workout routine after being sedentary for over a year. Needless to say, I'm excited about getting back into shape. Unfortunately, the childhood asthma that had vanished during college has come back. At about the midpoint of a run, the classic symptoms of asthma set in. I have no problems until I start doing serious exercise, but the problems then are severe. After several minutes of resting, I still haven't caught my breath. Does anybody else have this problem or know of potential solutions? I'd prefer not to go to a doctor for this if there is a natural solution. Someone suggested mullein, but I'm not sure if that would help... |

| Hi ThoughtAddict, I'm not too sure about natural products to help your asthma, but it sounds like you strained yourself. Your excitement and motivation is commendable, but you should also slowly build up your endurance. You said, you've been sedentary for a year. I know if I miss just a week or two of working out, I need to gradually build my strength back up. Remember, the idea is to develop a healthy lifestyle - think long-term. Gradually build up your physical fitness. If you haven't had problems with asthma since childhood, I think it was just a case of too-much, too-soon. That being said, protect yourself. Always carry around your fast-acting rescue inhaler.

| You just need an inhaler and use it before you leave for your run. It's honestly no big deal. EIA is based on a congenital condition in your trachea/bronchiols. Laughing really hard causes it to flair up. Really cold air activates it. Breathing heavy irritates it. This is a life-threatening thing for someone who wants to play the "natural cure" card. Just get the inhaler and get on with life. Jennifer |
