Talking Water fast...well liquid fast support!

Okay I have done water fasts before ranging from 3-10 days. Well after St. Patrick's Day Weekend....I realized that I needed a mini-detox session. I had been dieting and to suddenly go from healthy to all sorts of meats, carbs, and bad food/drink was a little bit too much for my body. I take full responsibility...but man it was all too good! Anyway I come here for support. Originally I was planning on doing a water fast, but I find those too energy draining and boring. So I guess liquid fast is a more correct term?

My only drinks are: lemon water, distilled water, and herbal teas.

Due to my previous detoxes I think my body is quicker to know when I am doing one. Already my tongue is white, and it isn't even a full day! So hopefully this will help, because I am only doing a mini-one. I will do a more lengthy detox fast after spring break- I have a feeling I might need it with my dad's cooking! So this is more of a way to keep me on track for the next few days!

I did a water / orange juice fast (orange juice was the only non-concentrate juice in this small town) and really enjoyed it. I had tons of energy and felt amazing. It was only 10 days but that was my choice to stop there because it was my first one and I felt pretty healthy already anyways being that I usually just eat healthy cereals and fruit / nuts.

I recently got a juicer and it is so awesome. I recommend if you have some extra cash (I wouldn't buy one cheaper than 100) then you should get one and try to get drink fresh juices for a fast, it's amazing.

Anyway, good luck!

Haven't the word juice-feast reached your ears? When I was crawling around a dieting forum some months ago it was becoming more & more popular.

"I had been dieting and to suddenly go from healthy to all sorts of meats, carbs, and bad food/drink was a little bit too much for my body."
That is the usual problem -- to either go on heavy dieting or to not diet.
Just try eat only fruit (juice is best though) & a little of some protein meal (can be in combination with carbs) somewhere in the middle of your day.

This might give you a taste of hunger-less calorie-restriction. It's wonderful!

I did a 2 week water fast and then transistioned into a juice fast for the 3rd week. I lost like 25 pounds and feel better than I have in years. I definitely will be doing this once a year or so. The funny thing is, now that I'm eating again, I feel like I have less energy than I did while fasting. I guess I just need to start exercising again to boost my cardio and metabolism.

Thanks for the replies! Makes me feel loved Seeing as I am only doing a very mini-detox (3 days), I decided from the get-go to not deviate from my normal routine. So I did my normal workout and was expecting to be extremely tired...which I was but only yesterday. It was so weird this morning. I woke up an hour early and was like "oh no....please tell me I have energy." After another hour of sleep I popped out of bed and have been awake and alert. This is an entirely new feeling to me, because normal detoxes I would not work-out and by the second day feel sluggish. I am being told that work-out helps detox the body faster- I really hope this is true.

I put this question to everyone. My skin is clearer, my insides feel cleaner, and I still have energy for my second day. This has never happened to me during a detox. Do you guys think it is because of the herbal teas and working out? Or is my body really that sensitive to detoxing? I was just curious. No complaints though I LOVE it- but was just wondering.

I'll keep you posted on today. My late night class a friend is bringing food. Let's hope my will is strong!

Well just got back from class and I feel bad. It ended up the person didn't bring food- which is good...but I got really bad hunger cravings when I got home! I mean as I was cleaning my room I was thinking.....FOOD! I was able to shut it up with some watered down cranberry juice, but it sucks from what I felt this morning to what I feel now. Intellectually I did set-out for what my detox was supposed to do...pretty much make me feel better. However I just want to finish at LEAST 2 days out of my 3 if it comes to that. I got real dizzy today, so I may need to break the fast tomorrow and do it later when I am more mentally/physically prepared.

Well there goes my previous statement written just awhile ago. I broke the fast with a smoothie. I couldn't concentrate at all for any of my work, but also I don't believe my heart was fully in it. Any "bumps" in the road should not make a difference if one is fully committed and driven to do it.

I like doing mini-fasts, but even I need to remember if your heart isn't in it- you will fail. I thank you all for the support, and will come back on in 2 weeks with my attempts to do another mini-detox.

I think you should really try giving it another shot. The dizzyness is normal because the toxins are being processed in your body and often can get into the blood stream, causing the light headedness. Try again, but do it during a time when you don't have much activity going on in your life. Also, by day 3 the hunger pangs usually go away. Also be sure that the juices you drink are all freshly squeezed and preferably organic, or just try water. Good luck!
