| Is there a correlation between how intense your dreams are and how frequently you masturbate? I've heard that when you masturbate you lose a bit of a certain chemical in your brain responsible for dreaming. I remember once when I couldn't do it for a few weeks time since I was staying in a place with alot of other people, and my dreams were SO vivid. I'm considering taking a long break, so can anyone verify this? |

| I've never heard of any correlation between the two,but i have had sexual dreams so intense that i wake up having an orgasm! I never kept track though of how long it had been since i masterbated last, though,so,i guess i can't help ya there! |

| Has happened to me numerous times. Although, it only happened when I was in heat. It's like your dreams WANT you to have an orgasm, so they increase in intensity and vividness. |

| Competing manifestations of the creative impulse. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

| I've noticed when I haven't masturbated in a while I tend to have more sexual dreams. But as far as how vivid or frequent I dream, I haven't noticed any effect.

| I read about this somewhere earlier... I think I'll do some scientific research on it, like two weeks without masturbation (is that possible? |

Generally people have dreams in their third(last) interval of the sleep, by that time most of the anxiety has cleared & many of the chemicals balanced. So the answer is yes it can, but only part of the negatives will effect this. I believe Males & Females release chemicals differently. The above information is for males, unsure on the masturbation mental effects for females, but I'd imagine it is not nearly as severe. Last edited by Marth : 05-12-2008 at 09:53 PM. |
