Default Eating before bed?

Somewhere in this forum, in the last few days, I read a post on a thread that said something along the lines of 'eat something before bed because one of the reasons for sleep difficulties is the long gap between dinner and breakfast', and listed a few of the types of foods suitable for this.

Do you think I could find that thread again? No way!

Anyone around who knows about this, has any ideas on what foods, posted the original comment? I'm often hungry before I go to bed and I'm nearly always hungry when I get up, so I'd love to try this, especially if it helps sleeping too!

A solution to that could be having dinner a little later than usual. But I've heard that a heavy meal could have a negative effect on sleep. Anything more than a light snack probably isn't a good idea the last few hours before bedtime.

Well, considering I already sometimes eat dinner later than 8 or 9pm, I wouldn't want to be eating any later. The post I can't find was actually saying just have a small snack of particular kinds of foods that will help keep everything steady overnight and into the morning.

I don’t remember the particular post, but I have read that having some cereal, especially oats, before bed can help you sleep better. I have started doing this as I can’t seem to go into a deep sleep on an empty stomach.
I assume the carbohydrate is digested slowly and takes some of the blood supply from the brain to the stomach, thus making your brain less active (that bit may be nonsense, but it works for me!).

I find carbohydrates good -- a slice of toast, or a cereal bar, for instance.

Maybe eat a little more at dinner time, if you're already eating late?

I've always made a habit of not eating anything up to 2 hours before bed. I'm not sure why I just heard that it's better for weight loss and your metabolism. Is this a myth?
