Question good foods to eat

can you just list some of the foods that you find are healthy to eat? i know there are a gazillion places where i could find out about healthy foods, and believe me i've looked around. but i really respect this board's opinions and want to find out what you all like to eat on an average day. thanks!

Nuts:
Nuts are a good thing to eat if raw...
Walnuts have a nice omega3/6 balanace. Hazelnuts are high in monounsatured fat.
You could also try pine nuts, almonds(although I'd assume raw almonds are hard to find now), cashews, ect.
Flaxseed is a type of seed high in Omega3. Get it as ground flaxseed if you can to make digestion easier.

Berries:
Good source of antioxidants.
Some nice ones are: blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries.
(eat fruits raw)

Vegetables:
Kale is probably the best if you can eat it. Maybe make a kale/carrot salad with nothing else if you can't.
I also eat lettuce, celery, and cucumbers.
Some non-leafy vegetables to consider are tomatoes and carrots.

Beans:
High in carbs but they're also high in fiber and protein. You would probably have to cook them somehow but I wouldn't boil them unless you also drink the water.

Tea:
There are regular teas and herb teas. Regular teas are made from tea leaves and include black, green, and white tea. I'd say white tea is the best. It's the least processed. All teas have next to no calories.
Regular tea is highish in caffeine(not as much as coffee) and also fluoride. The fluoride can be avoided by buying tea grown in clean soil but I guess it'd be hard to find.
Herb teas aren't made from tea leaves, and use other plants. They have no caffeine or fluoride and also might not have any tannins if you steep them too long. Rooibos(red) tea is an example. They have less antioxidants than regular tea. If you buy rooibos, you could get it unfermented too.
Many teas are a blend of many herbs.

Water:
Water is a pretty compilcated subject. You can filter water. The cheap filters(carbon filters) won't do much good to it, but a reverse osmosis filter, distillation filter, or both would do a lot of good. There are also filters meant for scientific use that produce clean water. If you do distill the water, you could also add a mineral tablet to it if you believe that it'll leach minerals from your body. You might want to use a silicia or tin cup to not contaminate the water.
There's also ionized water.
Tap water would have fluoride, bromide, chlorine(which is a gas and won't get filtered through distillation), ect, in it.

Supplements:
Vitamins D and B12 are probably the most common deficiencies so I'd supplement those.
I also eat nori(a seaweed) to get iodine and some sea salt.

Some other things are protein powders, vegetable oils, ect.

Hi littledevil.

Here is a recipe for a really healthy salad which is so chunky that you can eat a bowl of it as a meal.

1 can chickpeas
1 can brown lentils
1 can red kidney beans

put into a large bowl and add the following:

2 spring onions chopped.
1 small red pepper chopped.
12 black olives, stoned and chopped.
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
the juice of one lemon
about 4 Tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
one handfull of either chopped celery leaves, chopped coriander leaves or chopped parsley, or a combination. Whatever you prefer.
crushed fresh garlic - about 3 teaspoons.
salt
pepper

Enjoy.
Love Lisa

That really depends on what you mean by healthy and what sort of lifestyle you live.

One of my staple foods is just steamed vegetables over rice. It's very simple and boring, but you get used to it after a while. Adding onions makes it more palatable. I also add other grains, and nuts.
