Hi Kiran,

A water-only fast will cleanse and heal your body optimally without any outside "help" from supplements, honey or enemas. I am least concerned about the enemas because at least they are not directly interfering with the fasting process, but according to Dr. Shelton and many other fasting experts, sending anything to our stomach for digestion directly interferes with the internal transitions our body is making to flourish on it's internal nutrient reserves and will only be detrimental. Our body is very good at water-only fasting, but very bad at extreme calorie restriction as with supplementing a water fast with vitamins, minerals and/or honey.

If you want your body to be fed externally, i would encourage you to have a lot more than noni and honey, probably about 1500-1800 nutrient dense calories per day based on where you are with your weight. A juice diet is one possibility here. Otherwise, if you are going to water-only fast and you want to do yourself a very big favor, there should be absolutely nothing introduced except water.

Hi helpme,

So you haven't had a single poop in 10 days? I"m surprised to hear this, but intermittent fasting is not my specialty and there might be a good explanation contained therein. Out of curiousity, how many consecutive hours of fasting before you eat, how many hours is your eating window and what kind of foods are you eating?

Hello guys out there. I have been reading this website, and to good effect for the past 3 years. However, i am completely new to the forum. I am hoping that someone will continue this wonderful thread since I have started on a 30-day water fasting program all by myself. I've fasted about 4 times for a day each before this. Admittedly, I am not very experienced in water fasting. But I have a firm resolve to take this water fast to 30 days (or whenever my natural hunger returns). I hope someone experienced replies to this thread within a day or so.

Here are a few facts about my water fast.
  • I am 21 years old and this is my first long water fast
  • I have read as much as I could find on the internet about water fasting including this thread
  • I am not under any medical supervision.
  • In India where I live, there has been a tradition of fasting for thousands of years now and I have never heard anybody using an enema
  • So I have decided to do without the enema.
  • I am in my second day of my water fast right now

So far into the 2nd day, I haven't yet been hit hard by any hunger pangs. Yes, i do thinking about what foods I will eat once i complete the fast, but my hunger or appetite hasn't been strong enough for me to break the fast.

I am feeling a bit weak though, which is expected. The biggest problem I have is that I have very bad breath since in woke up in the morning today. From what I have read, this is all expected. But I am finding it particularly disgusting even more than the weakness.

Also, I am feeling very bored, since I decided to stay away form all media, including watching TV, movies and listening to music. I know that this will go past, but I would like any other advice from you guys out there and lots and lots of support!

Edit: I suggest you only go 3 days tops. Your body, to maintain proper muscle functions and heal used energy, needs proteins. It is said to be healthy to fast, but all your doing is causing your body to hold onto fats. I have talked with someone who did water fasting and he thought it was the worse thing he had done in years. Gained weight quickly after wards due to the bodies need to gain those fats and proteins.

Dear Srinivasanr,
I'm really quite excited for you. I just joined this website and am glad that it's only been about 6 days since you began your fasting journey. Reading your post inspired me to join in order to encourage you.
I've tried fasting multiple upon multiple single day fasts, a few 3 or 4 day fasts, a 7 day fast, a 12 day water fast and a couple 2 week fasting with juice and powder programs. I am waiting for my opportunity to do a 28 day water fast, but feel I first must take time off work and retreat somewhere where there aren't any worldly distractions, so to avoid negative responses.
I recommend a book called the essene gospel of peace. In it is said to fast a day for each year you have damaged your body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit, which is the temple of God. I will be 28 on May 10, I figure it'd be a solid 4 week period.
I believe you will get much benefit from the use of an enema daily. It isn't too late to start. Use warmed water. It's best if heated by the sunlight, but that may not be possible where you are in the world. Don't be frightened by the idea of the enema. I put a dab of vaseline on the tip to ease the penetration.
Another useful bit is that since the skin is the largest eliminatory organ, use a dry, somewhat soft bristle brush to brush your skin off before your showers. It will help with the detoxification process through your integumentary system (skin).
You have the will to continue.
I would like to know of your success. Also any side effects and any think that you'd do different next time.

Default Embarking on a 30 day water fast

Day 1

Hi, today will mark my first day of water fast for a period of 30 days. Previously I'd numerous failed fasts. The longest water fast was about 7 days and of which I lost 10 pounds. The main reasons for my other failed fasts was because I'd caught the flu bug which was rampant just a few months ago and had to break it. Now with a healthier body and better knowledge of fasting through reading up and other people's experiences, I'm very motivated to begin on this fast and make it work!

Currently there is this lingering negative thoughts behind my mind telling me that this will be another failed fast and it will be tough since no one around me will support me in this. However, I'm determined to fight this mental battle since this will be one of the reasons for my fasting. To discipline my eating habits and in turn discipline my thoughts and have better clarity of thoughts etc etc
