Hi, my friend robert flew from florida to st. martin. when he arrived in st. martin and got into the cab , five minutes into the ride , he felt his throat closing up as if someone was squeezing it. His breathing became very shallow and got worse. He felt like jumping out of the cab. he had difficulty breathing , felt extremely weak, and passed in and out of consciencious. he was taken to the hospital by ambulance and then he came out of it. and then when he came back out of it ..he was sweating profusely. they ran blood test , xrays and found nothing.. and could not tell him what was wrong with him. couple of days after that extreme weakness and throat tightness and feeling as if it is closing up feeling was comming and going. went to a couple of doctors and can't figure it out. then yesterday he found pinkish blood in his stool, and he continues to feel extremely weak and his throat feels as if it is tight and and hurts....he is seeing another doctor.....to run more test....can anyone help us with this.....cause he still feeling extremely weak and has difficulty breathing. |

Could be anaphylactic allergy to something he is ingesting, drinking or being exposed to. He should be allergy tested at once and begin keeping a food diary. It could also be a manifestation of anxiety but he definitely needs the allergy tests first. They can be deadly if not addressed. With these symptoms, he should carry with him an Epi-Pen which is a way to dose yourself with epinephrine for breathing emergencies. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) capsules too. He is in a totally new country and foods, flowers, plants, insects and possible reactions to a parasite can all cause these reactions. If they continue, he should travel home at once. Jennifer |
