Default 12-Week Challenge

Hi all,

Tomorrow morning I am starting a 12-week challenge at my gym. This involves before and after photos, personal training once a week, a tailored workout and eating plan, and basically busting my gut to achieve a meaningful body composition change (muscle/fat ratio). I guess it is very similar to Body-For-Life.

I've been going to the gym on and off for about two years, so not a complete newbie, but really want to make the most of this opportunity.

So, any advice, tips, encouragement?

I might add my sessions to the current Daily Workout Thread for some accountability.

Cheers,
Claire

Hey, congratulations! May you feel wonderful at the end of your 12 weeks.

I can't offer you a comprehensive answer, especially since I don't want to compete with your personal trainer, but I thought I'd offer a tiny tip:

Remember that you're in for a 12-week marathon, and don't overdo it. "Slack off" and do the bare minimum required for a few days, until you get a good feel for how much you can sustain.

Just my thought. Good luck!

Amanda

12 weeks? That's three weeks longer than my Army basic training, and I was in some pretty sweet shape after that. You should be completely fine-tuned by the end of this project.

Have fun, and enjoy the results!

Thanks guys and gals.

Just had my first personal training session and fitness test. I'm still recovering!

I'm really excited about the process, and expect to make some positive mental changes also - you know what they say, "It's amazing what you can do, once you put your mind to it."

I always had so many excuses as to why I could never totally commit to a fitness regime - no time in the morning (now I get up at 6am), can't afford personal training (was spending nearly as much per week on junk food!) and so on...

So, thanks for your support - I shall check in occasionally and update my progress.

Cheers,
Claire

Default Up, Up, and Away! :D

Hey Claire!

Well, All the best, my friend! I guess first of all, im really happy that your embarking on this challenge as it will definitely leave you revitalised and give you higher levels of clarity, and probably lead you to more changes which are more internal than just physical.... Even Steve Says that this is one should start with the physical when one wants to make a lotta changes...hehe...

So do keep us all updated with the progress. And do add me arithhuh@yahoo.com, and aditya_bhaskar@hotmail.com if you come online on either of these.

Victory is Yours! Fly High!

Thank you, arithhuh and karkaremtg, for your wonderful encouragement!

I do remember Steve mentioning "starting with the physical" when making changes - I know that for the last year or so, I have been spending too much time "in my head" and not enough time "in action" - but that's all about to change!

Will go and add myself to the Daily Workout Thread now!

Cheers,
Claire

Hey Claire,

First of all, big, big thumbs up for your goal and effort! Keep it up, I know you can do it.

I wake up everyday around 6:30 am now too (but gonna wake up later during Thanksgiving break since gym opens later) so I'm right there with ya.

My advice would be to have a positive attitude at all times, but you already have it. When you're ACHING to get back into the gym, you know you're on a roll I'm already counting down the hours till my workout tomorrow hehe...

As Ronnie Coleman would say, "Lightweight!"

Default 12-week Challenge Update

Awakening this thread from the dead to let you all know that I WON the aforementioned 12-week challenge at my gym!

Now, have I achieved the results I wanted in that time? Not completely.

Was the competition especially tough? Not really.

Have I made progress? Absolutely! I'm down a dress size, and my endurance has improved out of sight.

The best part? 8 free 1-hour sessions with my trainer, so I can build on the progress I have made, and get closer to my goal weight and desired fitness level.

Yay!

Cheers,
Claire
