Hello everybody currently im working in the gym for an aim of loosing aruond 30-40 pounds. my weight is around 245 lbs but 30 pounds to loose is just good for a start somebody tell me please if thats good (im suspecting that that gonna loose me my energy) another thing... ive read in a site that the weight lifting work-out should not last more than 45 minute coz after that period the natural testosterone levels will drop and thats not good for muscles growth i wanna know if thats true. and some insights and advices for my training pleaze....

if you're quite a bit overweight you don't want to do 30-45 min of cardio right before doing weights. Ease into it a bit.... You'll get too tired and probably drop the program if you go nuts at the start. I don't know about testosterone levels after 45 min of weights, but I can tell you that 45 min is probably sufficient. just make it a good hard working 45 min. Do as much cardio as you can to get yourself into shape, and move the amount of time up incrementally. It may be true that cardio before weights is better, but if you want to do some after doing weights to get yourself into shape that's not a bad idea.

You didn't mention your diet, as in how are you going to improve it? Exercise IS important in a weight loss effort, but that sounds like a pretty high amount if you're out of shape. Can you do that much exercise now? With my patients, I emphasize menu changes with modest exercise first and go from there (and they tend to do very well).

| Call me an old cynic but people have made a fortune out out the hoi polloi by creating every diet under the sun imaginable. The only weigh (sic) to lose weight permanently is the age old but sound advice of... EAT LESS AND EXERCISE MORE I dont think anything else works in the long run. The side effects are that you spend less money on food and medical care / drugs. There are some good simple tips to help you do this like #Dont buy junk in that will tempt you #Use smaller plates for smaller portions #Buy more whole foods that will fill you up without the sugar/salt cocktail #Get off the bus/train a couple of blocks/stops before your home and walk the rest etc etc

45 minutes of cardio may seem like a lot, but you will most definitely get there. It might be helpful to keep in mind you are burning fat after 20 mns of cardio. This will probably motivate you to stay on the treadmill ( litterally probably) for an extra 10 mns, then an extra 15 minutes, and so on.You can work up to 45 minutes of cardio easily. The better in shape you'll be, the easier it will be. Hopefully you have a sound nutritional plan to ensure muscle gain and fat loss. I lost weight last year ( 25 pounds ) and still have the same amount to go. I got a lot of help from going to the dailyplate.com to log my calorie intake. Someone from this site suggested it, and I am very thankful. Logging in your calories make you accountable and helps you to keep on track. Best of luck! Last edited by C33 : 10-26-2007 at 10:51 PM.
