| A year or two ago when I was having some trouble with panic attacks, I used to experience the same thing. Besides just pulse, I would pay way too much attention to any unusual feelings in my body, which could be really disconcerting at times. I have a feeling a lot of people get this (which is similar to heart palpitations, I believe), but they hardly pay attention to it and don't realize it's happening. Whereas you could almost be expecting it and, therefore, will more easily bring your constant attention to it...if that makes any sense. After I went to see the doctor about my panic attacks and he did some extensive blood work to show that everything was fine, he basically told me to stop "listening" to parts of my body that would make me uneasy. In fact, if you go to medical websites that describe heart palpitations, their advice is: "Once a serious cause has been ruled out by your doctor, try NOT to pay attention to heart palpitations, unless you notice a sudden increase or a change in them."
