Maybe you could post this in the "How can I avoid overeating" thread. I know I've lost interest in lunch now. but I did love this line about the baby mice in the wine: Quote:

hmmm... I don't really see the difference between eating a sheep's head or a sheep's leg... you know you're eating a sheep, don't you? does it make any difference if it's looking at you or not? If you see its skull or just a leg bone? Or the difference between boiling a chicken foetus and eating it, or putting it alive in a meat chopper because it's male and cannot lay eggs. Or boiling a living lobster that suffers so much that you have to put something heavy on the pot so that it won't escape in its agony. I mean, this link, that's horrible, but in my eyes not more than our normal eating habits. Just a bit more exotic |

Man that was funny. The only really sad thing is that I've always wanted to try lutefisk and balut. And now they both pop up on a list of things too disgusting to mention in polite company. Oh well, they still sound delicious. |

I would jump at the chance to try most any of those. A few years ago someone brought fried gnats from Kenya to a party and they had an amazing taste, very strong for something so small. Anything that is unlikely to do me real harm, while providing a unique experience, I'm happy to try.

While visiting northern Sweden, we tried Surstömming - herring that's "cured" (read: rotted) in salt water. It smells so bad that in some towns it's illegal to open a can on your balcony, and its transportation has been banned on some airlines. (Yes, we brought some home to share with friends.)
