| How long does it take for water to pass through an empty stomach? I like drinking water about 20 minutes after waking, about 500ml, and wonder how long I should wait before taking breakfast? Thanks! |

| I have personally found, that it is ideal for me to drink a cup of water 20 minutes prior to meal and another cup of water an hour after the meal, so that the water does not weaken the stomach fluids needed for digestion of food.

| i rarely drink water anymore. upon waking i will drink about a liter of water, and then after a meal maybe four or 5 sips just to wash my mouth out. i eat only raw, mostly fresh (not dehydrated) vegan food though, so its different depending on what you are eating. the more hydrated your food is, the less you need to drink water. for instance, you need 2 grams of water for every one gram of carbohydrate. eat an apple, and thats like 95 perc water. you dont need any extra. all you really need to do is rinse the acidic stuff out of your mouth so it doesnt break down your teeth. but if you eat a bunch of bread, you will need tons of water in order to prevent dehydration. but as far as before and after meals go, make sure you are totally hydrated before your meal. if you can, try to make your meal a fresh raw meal of fruits or veggies so that you get water and active enzymes with your food. doing this, which is really the only experience i can relate (as i wasnt too worried or educated about this before i started eating raw food), i would not drink water for at least 2 hours after a meal, and these are small meals we are talking about here, not feasts. make your own rules for your feasts, and listen to your body, but you will dilute your digestive enzymes the more water you drink when food is in da belly. |
