Default Lifestyle with less exposure to contagious ailments?

I'm a person who - by nature - mediates with all people around the world, even with people I meet on the street, communicate with all cultures, I shake hands, embrace, etc. ... and I'm quite aware that although I do it spontaneously, the capitalist business world sees this as an asset - especially due to networking and sales capacities.

However, all things that appear to be positive carry disadvantages as well...

I wanted to ask you what you think - in general - of contagious diseases/infections/ailments/etc. and what's the best way to prevent them.

Is there a way to prevent contagious things without severing all contact with other human beings?

Something that Jay Leno (and maybe other famous people) do is keep sanitary wipes in their pockets. If you watch Jay's monologue on the Tonight Show, he shakes hands with lots of people in the audience and then puts his hands in his pockets. That's because he has hand wipes in his pockets.

Having a fiance with an autoimmune disorder, I've learned the best attitude on this is, "JUST F***ING RELAX."

Seriously, why worry about this?

You can't avoid germs. All you can do is do the common sense things to take care of you. I haven't had a cold in six months and I don't know why. Probably because I don't worry about stuff.

Don't worry about it and take care off your own health, you'll be fine...

Besides, how the hell did you survive so far before this thought entered your mind?

Guys, guys, calm down, okay?

I'm not worrying, nor am I stressed about this.
It's just that in the past months I had some pretty bad experiences with overall healthcare, wherefore I'd prefer living happily and more cautiously in future.

I'm only asking what is the proper way to prevent... although you call it common sense, for some people it isn't (and unfortunately I had to count myself among those...).

This is nothing about stress... rather, the prevention of it in the long term

Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, and wash your hands often. Drink a lot of water, eat healthily (whatever that means to you, but generally avoid processed junk), and get enough sleep.

Those simple things will do a lot to keep you healthy.

If you are talking about Selenium dependable virus like HIV, Hepatitis C/B and even EBOLA. I believe a good nutrition that covers all human's essential nutrients ( especially selenium in the case of contagious selenium dependable virus ) is your best bet of living an almost "deadly virus free life". Best wishes

What really causes AIDS
Quote:
In July 2000, physicians and scientists from around the world met in Durban, South Africa for the XIII International AIDS Conference.
In a declaration, named after the city, 5,018 of them
proclaimed that “HIV is the sole cause of AIDS.”4 There are,
however, at least seven anomalies that strongly suggest that this
conventional wisdom is incorrect and that belief in it is blocking
progress in the development of new treatments for AIDS and of
novel ways of preventing its spread. To illustrate, despite widespread
unprotected promiscuous sexual activity in Senegal, HIV-
1 is diffusing very slowly, if at all, amongst the Senegalese.
5 It is
very apparent that in Africa, differences in soil selenium levels
are greatly influencing who becomes infected with HIV-1 and who
does not. Indeed, the recently published Selenium World Atlas
used the incidence of HIV-1 as a surrogate measure of soil selenium
levels because actual levels are, as yet, poorly established
in sub-Saharan Africa. A similar relationship has been
documented in the United States6 where there has been an inverse
relationship, especially in the Black population, between
mortality from AIDS and local soil selenium levels.
It is well established that individuals who are HIV-positive gradually
become more and more selenium deficient.7 This decline,
which is known to undermine immune functions, is not unique
to HIV-infection but is seen in almost all infectious pathogens
.8
However, under normal circumstances, where death does not
occur, selenium levels rebound soon after recovery. HIV-1, however,
can effectively elude the defense mechanisms of the immune
system, and can continue to replicate indefinitely, endlessly depressing
serum selenium. As a result, the immune system is
compromised, allowing infection by other pathogens that continue
to deplete the host of selenium, allowing HIV-1 to replicate
more easily, further undermining immunity. Therefore, this relationship
between selenium and the immune system is one of positive
feedback, in which a decline in either of these two variables
causes further depression in the other. Termed the “selenium-
CD4 T cell tailspin” by the author,9 it is the reason that serum
selenium levels are a better predictor of AIDS mortality than CD4
T cell counts. Like other positive feedback systems, such as avalanches
and forest fires, it is extremely difficult to control and
gains momentum as it progresses.

HIV-1, however, encodes the entire selenoenzyme, glutathione
peroxidase. As it replicates, therefore, it depletes its host not
only of selenium but also of the other three components of this
enzyme: namely, cysteine, glutamine, and tryptophan.10 AIDS,
therefore, is a nutritional deficiency illness caused by a virus. Its
victims suffer from extreme deficiencies of all four of these nutrients
which are responsible for such symptoms as depressed CD4T
lymphocyte count, vulnerability to cancers (including Kaposi’s
sarcoma), depression, psoriasis, diarrhea, muscle wasting, and
dementia. Associated infections cause their own unique symptoms
and increased risk of death.

HIV-1 alone, therefore, does not cause AIDS. It involves a multiplicity
of co-factors, specifically anything that either depletes serum
selenium levels or depresses the immune system enough to
permit viral replication. Manipulating the “selenium-CD4T cell
tailspin” by adding this trace element to fertilizers and food stuffs
opens new avenues for both prevention and treatment. This strategy
has been shown to work on other viruses that encode glutathione
peroxidase, such as Hepatitis B and C and the Coxsackievirus.
The logical treatment of AIDS patients involves supplementation
with selenium, cysteine, glutamine, and tryptophan, at least to
levels at which deficiency symptoms associated with a lack of these
nutrients disappear. While this can be most easily achieved by
supplements, certain foods contain elevated levels of those four
nutrients. Strangely enough, one of the ideal meals for anyone
who is HIV-seropositive would include a cheeseburger to which
Brazilnut flour had been added to the bun.

Don't jam your fingers up your nose or mouth, and if you prefer, don't drink after people. This includes water fountains. Mono is going around at my school and I am taking extra precautions just because that would be such a severe setback. But as far as colds and flus, save any extreme precautions for when you know the person is contaminated. It really isn't worth thinking about, and disease is good for your immune system.

Default sanitary wipes

there are good ways you can retain your sanity and stay clear of germs more efficiently. Carry around some sanitary wipes and wash your hands (with soap) before you eat and as soon as you come home. Try not to become too radical about the germ thing....next thing you know you will be resisting all human touch and contact....and is that any way to live??

If you had ANY idea how absolutely encased every single physical object in the world is in bacteria, viruses and others, you would never ask this question.

Handwashing is a good idea because that is how most disease is transmitted but it's almost moot. Even the papertowel has bacteria naturally. Even the air blown from a hot dryer has bacteria.

Your keyboard, telephone, steering wheel and purse probably are the most loaded...yet people worry about toilet seats. Your mouth is dirtier than a toilet seat.

Germs are our friends. The keep out immune systems in fighting condition.

What is dangerous and renders one susceptible to disease is unhealthy eating, drinking and sleep habits.

How many times do you need to be told? You got your answer 3 times in a row! (post # 3, 4, and 5) What's wrong with their answers? Too simple?

The advice is sound. What you resist is drawn to you. The more you focus on lack of health, the more you'll create that in your life. That's what they're saying to you: relax, don't worry about your health.
