Default I imagine things when seeing (eyesight related)

Often with my eyes open I see two things:
1. The usual 'objective' physical world.

2. Some mind-projection. Mostly it's an image of my face, my facial expression, especially eyes. Other times it's something that I'm thinking about, like a friend's face or whatever, if I imagine talking to him/her. The latter can easily go away if I just focus on something else.
But when I "see" my own face it's not on purpose. It's automatic and I actually don't want it, but it's difficult to make it go away. It's like some unconscous habit or something.
Does this sound familiar to somebody?

I think the key to make this image go away is to be fully focused on the physical reality. Or just being focused in general.

But I'd like to know if somebody has/had some similar experiences.

BTW, I became aware of this in the last year or so. I'm trying to improve my eyesight with some techniques following this book. It also focuses on the emotional/mental role of eyesight and I gained some important insights.

Are you saying you imagine these things or are they literally in your field of vision?

Just imagining.
I think something similar happens when you read a book, for example. You see words, but you also "see" the content of the story. (at least I do...)

I used the word 'see', because I think it's actually very similar to "physical" seeing and probably the same part of the brain is being used to produce those 'images'.

Sometimes I have those but mostly because I just got done with some exercise or high energy activity. I’m pretty sure you’ll live
