Trying to chunk up? Why fatty snacks?

To answer your question, though, pretty much anything with chocolate or caramel would do the trick (cocao butter in the former, dairy butter in the latter). Anything deep fried, too, like potato chips.

As for healthier fats, avocados (as in guacamole) or fattier fish (salmon or lox (smoked salmon)) are pretty high.

They sell some gawd awful hot sausages in the party store here that'll have your arteries and heart begging for mercy in no time. (Not that I've tried those more than once. Blech!)

Lox and bagels with cream cheese is actually one of my favorite foods, but I rarely eat it due to the fat.

Thanks Shamou. Yeah Matt It has been my goal since I知 weighing in at 125 and am 17. I知 naturally skinny and hate it. I wish I could regulate my weight instead of it being constantly at 125.

Size acceptance, people.

What's wrong with being thin? I'm thin and I like it. I try to get a fair amount of fat in my diet through plant sources like avocado and pesto. I also love Smart Choice Light margarine.

The fattening stuff I like that WILL put weight on: Ben & Jerry's, cheesecake, chips. Of course, that stuff IS crap for you. Beware. :-)

You're a girl.

It's not anywhere near as cool for guys to be thin.

Ben & Jerry's (and other types of ice cream) contain Dioxin, and some other cancer causing agents. I'd be pretty wary.

Might want to go the rice dream route.

What Dan said. Being skinny for girls is one thing but for guys it’s a whole new ballgame. There is hope though since my dad is fat. On the other hand he drinks vodka more than he eats.

No food by itself will "put" weight on you.

And fatty foods do not make you fat, or put fat on you.

The only reason why people think that fat puts fat on you is because every gram of fat has 9 calories whereas protein and carbohydrates have 4 calories.

More calories = more weight.

But only if you are already eating more than you burn.

You can't just eat some chocolate and a doughnut and get fat, or even gain weight.

You have to eat ENOUGH of them.

What really matters is your total energy intake vs. your total energy output.

If you are eating more than you are burning you are gaining weight.

If you are burning more than you are eating, you are losing weight.

What you eat does not matter much in terms of weight loss or gain.

Actually, my godfather died of lung cancer. No, it isn't. The man hadn't quite yet hit 50. Unfortunate.

You know, here's how I look at personal pain and disease, Dan:

My boyfriend has a chronic, cruel, and terrible disease. He's lost so much talent to it (although, he is still a brilliant musician). It breaks my heart when his short term memory blacks out and he forgets things, or when he has tremors to where it's hard for him to do things with his hands, or has pain so severe he can't sleep.

But his degree of bravery is unparalleled, as is his sense of humor. Know what he started calling himself to be "PC?" "Other-mylienated." I mean, when he was coming onto me, he even said, "You know, mylien is VERY overrated in men." And it made me laugh, and made me realize despite something terrible, you can have an awesome sense of humor and still take suffering seriously.

I think you should try out some of Slamhot's attitude.

Vacman thanks for the advice it clears up a few myths. I don’t know though. I eat around 2000 calories a day or maybe less....

The thing is I carry heavy books and go up and down stairs all day with 60 pounds of gear on my back at school. I think I am burning too many calories doing this since the building is fairly large. Maybe I just need to eat more grandmas prison quality cooking LOL.

And I think you shouldn't be so quick to joke about cancer.

I'm glad your boyfriend is handing his pain well.

I'll let you in on a secret: It's just as appropriate to laugh at the things you cry at, because everyone would rather their lives be filled with more laughter than tears.

Even the pretentious artist types.

In THAT spirit, and getting back on track, nuts. Eat more nuts if you MUST gain.

Then we both have things to work on!

And I'm sorry for your loss. Been there, done that, bought the teeshirt.

Clarification: I was not joking that cancer is fun, but more or less the temporary pleasure we'll pursue at longterm high stakes, whether it's weight gain or eating something unhealthy.

Please PM me the name of your health/nutrition teacher so I can hit this person.

YES, nuts are high in fat and protein, but good fat. I once read something like a handful of nuts a day would make you gain 10 lbs. in a year.

This is true. Unless you're inherently into looking FAT, it's not that great.

Question, 'cause I'm bored: Why do you want to gain?

Just ten pounds of muscles and the girls will go wild... and, if you are serious about it... it can easily be done within one year at your age... well maybe not all that easily... but a very reasonable and possible objective...

The very best of luck to you... and don't go believing guys that tell you that sex weakens the muscles...
