| Cheers, I found this site about a week ago, it came on top from Google at 'self development blog' or something related. Reading the blogs, I was fascinated. The blog posts seemed to make sense even more than some of the books I have previously read from the subject. I actually have implemented similar ideas than the '30-day trial' (like the one last summer, when I went to swim for 40 consecutive days), but it all came up to much clearer terms here. The main reason why I'm writing here is for peer support. I have a general interest for self-development since I first read the works of the Finnish author Jari Sarasvuo. As to the enormous public critique he received, it seems to me that the Finnish culture is especially opposed to self-development. It sometimes seems to me that I have no vocabulary to discuss this, and related things, with most of my friends. Of those who have come close enough, I have not gained valuable allies for long. One, instead of giving sincere advice, gave me advice to further his own ends, which finally ended up costing me expulsion from our common social circle. Later, one went up in a quarrel and was restored as a de facto casual friendship. Even without practically any outside help, I still have succeeded with many of the things I have tried. However, I seem to suffer from what has been called periodical mild depression, effectively nullifying most of my success. After failing with friends, I have tried to solve this with professionals. However, I find their concentration to one's childhood (instead of the problem at hand) fairly ridiculous, and being a sceptic, I'm extremely unwilling to commit to something for 3 evenings a week for 2 years without even a reasonable outcome expectation. Maybe if they offered 30-day trials... OK, this is for the general introduction. Since my current situation needs immediate care, I'll write another post about that soon. I'm not yet entirely sure if this is the right forum for me, maybe I'd be better writing my own blog, but let's see what happens. --SS (Mood meter: -3 in scale of -5 to 5) |
