Hey all, I'm one of the moderators over at the Health and Fitness forum. It's a natural fit for me, as I'm in my second-year in a four-year Classical Chinese Medicine program at the oldest continually operating natural medicine college in the United States. I love my program, and my medicine, and I expect I will be talking quite a bit about it over at the forum. Briefly - it is Chinese medicine wrested from the arms of Maoism, rebirthed intact with its spiritual roots and full appreciation for the complexity of life. Most people have only ever seen a TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) physician, and while many TCM docs are very, very good - they are often good DESPITE what they learned and studied. Other than being crazy for natural health in general, and Chinese ways of health in particular, I'm the father of a 9-year-old vegan warrior and partner to an amazing massage therapist. I was a double major in college, with philosophy and biology as my majors. I went on to a degree in Applied Ethics, and I'm actually still finishing my thesis for that degree - concerning using the Daoist model to build a new, viable environmental ethic. I love music, and I've played the guitar since I was 16. I found Steve's site while using StumbleUpon - and it was a fortuitous find as I was at a dead-end with my personal development. Reading what Steve had to say on a number of topics got me kick-started again and I've been all "go" since then. I'm especially interested in the more esoteric strands of Steve's thought, but nearly everything he's written has been a great help. I love personal development and I'm really looking forward to seeing how this site develops. It's a great group of folks and I feel challenged just reading through the few things I've managed to read through. Great work! Let's keep at it! Eric Grey Portland, OR |
