Default Lurker Come-Out Party

I see we have a lot of lurkers in this community (i.e. visitors who've never registered and therefore can only read messages but never post). For those of you who are on the fence about registering, now would be a great time to sign up and become a full community member.

Some registration details:
  • It only takes a minute
  • It's free
  • Only minimal personal info is requested, not much more than your birthday (to verify your age) and an email address -- you don't have to provide your real name
  • You'll be able to post your own messages
  • You'll stop seeing the registration reminder messages
  • You'll see fewer ads
  • You'll be able to use the "New Posts" feature, which will show you all new posts since your last visit (which is much more convenient than "Today's Posts" for unregistered members)
  • You'll be able to make new friends
  • Your profile can include a signature with a link to your web site, possibly generating some extra traffic if your site is of interest to the community -- that link gets listed in your profile even if you never post a message, so just signing up gets you a free link
  • The forum software can automatically log you in with each visit, so you never have to manually login or logout
  • You can subscribe to threads to get an email when someone posts a reply
  • You can send and receive private messages to/from other members
  • You'll feel better about yourself if you contribute every once in a while
  • You'll be welcomed with open arms
  • Member sounds better than lurker
If you register after seeing this message, feel free to post a reply to say hi and let us know you're here. Don't be shy.

Isn't coming out for being a lurker self-contradictory? Steve again...

You can thank my wife for that... she says that while I'm posting she does not have to listen to me

Default synchronicity

Thank you for the opportunity to join this group. Funny you should have a "lurker come out party" and invite people to join right when I decided to sign up to the forums.

To be fair, I haven't "lurked" a great deal... just lately been moseying in to the forums from the links on the various blogs and articles. I happened upon StevePavlina.com while searching about productivity methods. That was maybe two or three weeks ago, and I've suffered a bit of analysis paralysis (AP) as a result. (In actuality, it's probably been the final prompt for me to recognize a long-standing AP truth that I'd been trying to avoid. Among others)

StevePavlina.com is a bit of an eye opener. Excellent website.
