Does anybody else think the 'go to first new post' links make the forums just a bit too cluttered? It is especially annoying because it is in front of almost every thread, even some with only one or two replies. I could understand it if the thread has multiple pages, with one link going to the start, and the other going to the end, but it does not make any sense on the shorter threads. Perhaps if the link were shorter, such as an '>' symbol (after the thread name and page count), it would be less visually distracting.

Hunh. It looks different on my work computer, with the icon you described being present. I'll need to look at it again when I get home. This morning was the first time I noticed the text, and I didn't change any settings beforehand. Perhaps the server or my browser were doing something odd at 4 AM.

Well, it looks like Firefox on OSX Tiger does not display the icons properly anymore. I'm not sure why. Was anything changed on the server overnight? I don't remember seeing the icons before, but I definitely don't remember seeing the text link.
