Hello and welcome chaitra...

Those fears probably are the result of a lack of self-confidence... you probably fear that some unknown event can happen in you life where you will not be able to find the necessary resources to overcome their consequences...

The best antidote for fear is to keep your focus on the present moment... most people fear the future... but are OK with what is happening in the here and now...

Good luck to you...

Extreme, irrational fear of the unknown could be a symptom of GAD (generalized anxiety disorder).

You might want to check out this article on my blog: How I Overcame Anxiety (and How You Can Too)

Best wishes to you.

I don't know if John will agree with me... but seems to me that we are starting on the wrong foot here...

You say, "I'll try to be less perfect..." which is tantamount to saying... "I'll be a bit of a slob..."

John talks about , "an exaggerated and unrealistic quest for perfection, a need to have things “just so.” For me, one of the keys to peace was learning to live with imperfection".

So, what you want to say is, "I will learn to live with imperfection..." ...instead of saying, "I will try to be less perfect"

A small distinction... but an important one...

Yes Shamou,i said so because I always try to be very perfect in what ever I do..and end up being a failure as i set high standards and if im not upto it, i get very depressed.i cannot concentrate on anything and finally end giving it up forever.as john said the reason may be fears of self-doubts disapproval, ridicule and rejection.so may be a little less perfection will be good for me...
As i am writing this now, i am thinking of the sentence formation ..whether it is perfect or not...and if capitals are placed properly....but i think its ok for not being tooo perfect i guess....

Shamou, my friend, you hit the nail right on the head, as usual.

The goal is not to be "less perfect," but rather to be comfortable in our own skin, recognizing perfection is rarely attainable.

The 80/20 rule has really been a life saver for me, since it prompts me to "let go" before my perfectionist tendencies send me on a rediculous, unproductive, and emotionally damaging crusade for something that does not exist.

Chaitra, for me, it was important to understand when 80/20 was "good enough" and when I needed to put in a true 100% effort.

For most of life's daily activities, 80/20 is good enough. Certainly, you don't need to be perfect here in these forums. It's okay if your posts aren't perfectly structured. You are among friends, and we are glad to have you here.
