Smile Taking time out to think...

Hey all! I have been reading Steve's website of late and I'm quite intrigued by the thought provoking insight he imparts. I'm currently on bedrest with my second pregnancy so I have a lot of extra time to catch up on my reading. I'm a chiropractor by trade and I've found this time at home to have been really therapeutic. I've really become intrigued by personal development and recently read and saw "The Secret". I find it all fascinating and I'm so thankful to have this time to stop and really THINK. I would love to hear all your stories of your life journeys!

I started reading Steve's blog about 8 months ago and it inspired me to do something with my life as well. At the time I was struggling with what I wanted to do in life and how to best apply my talents.

I've always loved books and wanted to become a writer, so starting my own blog was an obvious decision. It's been going 6 months and growing steadily. I now have 2200 subscribers and get around 3,000 visitors a day. I still have a very long way to go to start making any real money, but it's a start.

I started reading Steves blog not long after he started it. I was immeadiately hooked, I read all his back catalouge and that, along with other things, sparked my journey forward.

Alot has happened thse past two years, ALOT has happened. And I won't say really because I can't articulate it but I will say this...

If I was to see mself two years ago and say "This is what you will become" I would never have believed it.

Welcome Chiromom.

My journey has been a long one, with a lot of job hopping and career changing.

My first career was in the radio industry. I had my own talk-show in a top 15 market when I was 19. I built a sizable following of loyal fans, whom I really enjoyed, but radio itself was not something I was passionate about.

I eventually left radio, went to college, and climbed up the corporate ladder as a software programmer and architect. I made very good money, but did not find the work fulfilling. Once again, I found myself struggling to find purpose in my daily activities.

I decided finally to follow my heart, to unearth my purpose from within, so I could lead a life that I found more fulfilling. It has been a long and rewarding process of discovery.

Default Yes, I am...

Hey Shamou!

I am in fact a Palmer grad. I graduated in 2003 from the Davenport location. Are you currently practicing? I have been associating for four years while having children. Once this one is born, due in September, I'm hoping to start on my own or buy a practice within a year afterwards. I'm very excited, thrilled, nervous about the prospect. But as I sit here on bedrest, I have time to dream, plan, and figure out the next step. I guess my "couch arrest" has been a blessing in disguise. Write back and tell me about your chiropractic experience/expertise. I would love to hear it!

Hello Chiromom...

I also graduated in Davenport... and I am now semi-retired... it has been a great life...

What has helped me most was the "Parker Chiropractic Resource Foundation..." However, I don't even know if it still exists...

If if could give you just one word of advice it would be to develop strong bonds with Chiropractors who are doing very well... the support that you will get from them is almost essential...

Also, you should try to visit as many Clinics as possible... see what they do and get advices... take those DC to lunch...it will be your best investment...

The very best of luck to you...

Thanks for the advice Shamou. I have been fortunate in having chiropractors that are my friends that are willing to share their experiences with me. Once I get my "sea legs" after this baby, I plan to either buy or open my own. I have been quite intent on this venture and have seen a number of practices. I will continue to establish relationships with other chiros. Thanks again!
