Bruce Achterberg is on a distinguished road
Arrow Greetings from Bruce Achterberg

Greetings fellow Personal Development for Smart People™ forum members and guests!

My name is Bruce Achterberg, and I am one of approximately 30 individuals who was selected to become a moderator for the StevePavlina.com Personal Development for Smart People forums. Specifically, I am a moderator for the Spirituality, Consciousness, & Awareness forum board, and I look forward to deleting your posts and locking your threads.

Taking a cue from the About page on Steve Pavlina’s website (since for my first post I thought I’d spare you all from my often excessive, excruciatingly detailed, and overly formatted verbiage that you are likely to be subject to in my future threads/posts), I am a blue/grey eyed, non-colour blind, right-handed, reasonably educated, Australian English using, computer savvy, meditation practicing, ki/chi using, risk taking, problem solving, challenge-loving, system breaking, non-conforming, inconsistently early-rising, optimistic, energetic, determined, confident, compassionate, constantly improving, hard-working, balance/equality promoting, blatantly honest, unconventional, martial arts/bodybuilding/weightlifting practicing, virtually fearless, highly honourable, 21 year old (ie. born in 1986) … Australian, male, retail employee, self-proclaimed writer, computer game forum/mini-online-community administrator, entrepreneur-in-the-making, perfectionist, Libran (as in the star sign), and a participant in growth and change.

I am an introvert currently becoming more extroverted, a logical intuitive, and someone who avidly seeks out the mystery in life, trying to find the answers to the more ‘taboo’ and unconventional questions that life presents us with and find those all important ‘universal truths’ while chasing after dreams and goals that most people would label with words such as “impossible”, “unrealistic”, “stupid”, and “probably dangerous”. I was one of the (if not the) youngest people in Australia to receive a black belt in Tae Kwon Do at the age of about 9 (at least, at the time), and to this day continue to devote a significant portion of my time to constantly challenging myself, improving and expanding my abilities, and trying to tap the unknown and unexplored recesses of the human body (and everything associated with it) via a combination of physical, mental, and spiritual training. In other words, I’m one of those people who would stop someone who is fleeing naked into the desert screaming, “The horror, the horror!” and ask for directions as to how I can get to where that person just came from.

As for my fellow forum members (both new and existing), on behalf of Steve and Erin Pavlina as well as the entire moderation team, I bid you welcome you to the forums and very much look forward to taking part within this community. I expect it will become a great resource for all involved. Should you wish to contact me, please feel free to – my contact details are as follows:

Well it is nice to meet you Bruce. I love the way Steve describes himself with a bunch of one word characteristic delimited by commas or hyphens depending on his mood. I started calling that a steveism, and I find it very useful.

I have started to ponder recently about taking up martial arts. Congrats on being so young and achieving so much.

I am with you on the dreams too. People often label the things up I am up to as ridiculous, impossible, insane, stupid, dangerous, asinine, just to name a few. More power to your dreams because dreams just rock.

Default Long hair, wild horses, and green medows

Today I got some photos of myself taken that I considered to be fairly decent and worthy of mass consumption, so I thought I'd share some of them so that all my Pavlina forum friends and fans could finally see what I look like and "put a name to the face."

Of course, you all knew I was ruggishly handsome, but now your expectations can be verified. (I mean about zero of that sentance, but it was fun to wite. )

Sorry to those expecting flowing long hair, wild horses, and green medows--I was fresh out of those. Next time, however…!

As my photography coordination and photogenic skills improve, I'll share any photos of myself that make the cut (unless I decide to hold onto them and use them for specific purposes).

Enjoy!

Indeed you are ruggishly handsome Bruce!

You're also younger than I would have expected. Great pics!

Oh I just saw you are an INFP like me!

But I'm surprised, I thought you were the kind of guy with impressive dreadlocks and wearing a Bob Marley T-Shirt...

just kidding

You look great Bruce, absolutely handsome Dark blue with underlying grey looks great on you for sure. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Bruce, you're so cute! For some reason, I envisioned you with lots of unkempt gray facial hair, elbow patches on your jacket, and a meerschaum pipe.

Inspiration for my next set of photos.

The long hair, wild horses, and green medows can wait!

At least now I know that if I ever did the "describe me in 3 words" exercise Steve did, you'd describe me as "unkempt, hairy, and smoky."

* * *

Thanks for kind words, guys.

I'll have to add "absolutely, ruggishly handsome, cute, and cool" to my personal info in future.

Random trivia: this thread has a high moderator to post count ratio.

From the other descriptions here, guess I'm not the only who envisions you as some professor who we can get some lengthy explanations from while having tea.
