I would just like to say I have received a message from Steve Pavlina telling me that he has received several complaints about my posts. I mean come on are we children or intelligent adults wanting to engage in meaningful discussions. Like it or not this topic needs to be addressed, I apologise for offending anyone, but please reply to my posts directly instead of trying to get me banned. Again no offence intended. |

I think what you find if you go through other posts in this thread where several people have asked you to meet us halfway on the skepticism, you might find the source of complaints. Instead of saying "I challenge you to prove to me that you are not a fraud/delusional" you might say "You say you've had an OBE. I don't understand this in the slightest. From my study of science, I don't see how this is possible. Can you tell me more about it?" I think it really comes down to validating other people's experiece and feelings on this matter. You are skeptical. Wonderful! I think it is a point of view that we can all cherish and use, in it's place. The scientific process definitely has some input on some of these matters, currently confusing as it may be. However, when you tell people that their experiences aren't real, or that they're lying, or that they are delusional, that's crossing the line. And that comes dangerously close to flamebaiting. Seriously, take some of the ideas and try them for yourself. Share what you've found. You can analyze some of this scientifically and experimentally without a large amount of equipment or money, just a bit of knowledge of the scientific process and a little effort. (Some things, like astral projection or OBEs, may take more effort.) Your skepticism is welcome as long as it contributes to the discussion. |

I've been reviewing your posting history, and it seems you've actually improved quite a bit lately. The best advice I can give you at the moment: If you want to "rock the boat", try to avoid hijacking other people's threads when you do it. You're also tied for the 3rd highest post-count (as of this post), so you're opening yourself up to a great deal more scrutiny than your average member. Be sure that you're providing value to the community consummate with such a high post-count, and not just being loud |
