I found this website when I googled the 'psychology of advice giving' because my dad was giving me unsolicited advice! My way of trying to get him to stop giving me materialistic baby-boomer lectures was to send him a link to a page I found here, which got very deep into some of the reasons that people seem to think they 'know better' and try to 'assert dominance' by giving advice. Upon looking further into this site I bookmarked it and found it to be very fun to browse around in. Glad to sign up!
