Smile Strategies on how to deal with difficult people

Hi All,

Just the other day I was looking up information on the internet about how to deal with difficult people because we have so many of them to deal with in our lifetime. This forum and what I thought of as window of opportunity came up, so here I am. I think this forum is great I find it very useful because it provides an outlet for so many people out there. I find it so interesting that so many people are so passionate about life!

Any strageties on how to deal with difficult people especially when they are family members?

Hi msseng, and welcome to the forums!

By the way, you may want to know that more people visit the other areas of the forum, so you could possibly get more responses if you post your question in the Social and Relationships area. Or you could ask the moderators to move the thread to that section, if you like.

There's a lot of different ways to deal with difficult people. I actually wrote an article about this recently, as there are some difficult behavior patterns in a family relationship.

If you're interested, I described a basic technique for shifting patterns in a relationship here - which is very helpful with difficult people. I like it because it is also an empowered approach to changing things. If I keep acting the same way, I will create the same patterns in that relationship. If I want it to change, the easiest way to get that is for me to change how I am approaching things.

Anyway, hope the article might give you some ideas. The method I used is something I've practiced myself, and it's based on a lot of expert theory.
