Hello there,

My name is Blake and I'm a 20-year old junior to be at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.

I've been a huge fan of Steve's work for a few years now. I've always considered myself growth-oriented, but Steve's writings have certainly helped me better focus my efforts and make a lot more progress in my different facets. I don't want to sound cheesy or sentimental, but I feel extremely grateful to have stumbled across his site a couple years ago, as I'm sure many of you are.

Like I said, I've made a ton of progress over the past couple years. 18-year-old Blake would be no match for my current self. That said, here are a couple areas where I'm currently focusing the majority of my efforts.

1.) My business. I recently launched my site (in signature), which combines several of my intense passions- personal finance, lifestyle design, personal growth, and writing. I'm crazy-excited about its prospects.

2.) Communication skills. Due largely to the influence of Steve's writing, I recently became a member of a local Toastmasters club. My communication skills are nowhere near where I want them to be, and I've always been anxious and hesitant about speaking in front of a group, so I'm looking forward to making improvements here.

The night before my first meeting, I was pretty-darned nervous. I whipped out my printed copy of Steve's article, 'The Courage to Live Consciously', and used that as inspiration. That is by far my favorite article ever on his site.

I don't like living an unbalanced life, so I'm also striving for improvements in other areas as well (fitness, friendships, to name a few), but the two above are the biggies for now.

I don't know why I haven't gotten involved in the forums here long before, but I'm looking forward to learning a lot (and hopefully contributing some value).

Rather than simply reading about personal growth, I hope to learn and push myself even more by reading the words of others passionate about personal growth. Seems like I'm in the right place.
