Default A visionary says hello

I'm a 19 year old high school graduate with a passion to study, master and revolutionize educational technologies and techniques the world over.

I'm currently doing photoreading, memory techniques and mindmapping.

I'm also working on a highly imaginative and improved system for sheet music notation and if you always wanted to play the piano I can perhaps help you out in exchange for you being my guinea pig for the new system = )
I love taking things apart, seeing how they work and put them together in new and better ways.

I've done aikido (martial arts) for about 1.5 years.

I play the piano, though I'm still very intermediate. I'd mostly like to learn piano improvisation (mainly classical and jazz/blues).
Oh, and learning to play the violin as well, that'd be so sweet.

Doing a one-man comedy show about life skills, education and personal development is another thing I'd like to try.

Currently I'm teaching myself to juggle and looking for someone to teach me some basic magic and performance tricks. I'm also looking to build a website, monetize it with adsense, affiliate links and ebooks. Hopefully I can use it as a staging ground for marketing and releasing a DVD series on living a life of riches (lucid dreaming, exercise, martial arts, meditation, building an identity, etc...).

Congratulations on being so young and having such good ideas about what you want. However I might suggest you cut down your list a little or prioritize some. That list looked rather daunting to me at first glance.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

Heh, to me though this list is comparatively small! This is just what came to mind when I wrote it.

However I've got it all fit into neatly managable "Projects" (ie. Project Piano, Project Juggling, Project NLP, etc...).

I only have so many active projects running at a time so nothing gets outta hand. I am however assaulted by ideas of how to accomplish ALL of my projects constantly, so it can be hard to manage my motivation levels - ie. constantly over-flowing in ALL areas.
Quite a quality problem, eh?

Is there any sort of masterminding network going on the forums?
It seems such an evident idea to unite people of similar purpose and motivations instantly when they get into the forums. Perhaps a search-friendly thread on all the members' goals would have its place?

What a fascinating introduction! Hey there, Marc. I'm amazed you can keep so many tasks straight, and keep working on all of them all the time, but that's something I'm trying to improve. You sound a lot like me, actually. I'm quite annoyed by the traditional system of sheet music, I want to study Aikido, and I'm fascinated by the brain/neuroscience and languages. Though, unlike you, I'm not particularly good at learning languages (I have a lot of trouble with it, even though I LOVE the study itself). We even have similar music tastes (some). Haha, I should talk to you!

As far as "goal alignment", one site I like for that is 43things.com, though of course it isn't Pavlina-level (but it could be!)

I almost want to give my own kind of "intro", since I've barely posted at all since I've been here.

Twenty year old college sophomore from New York City - I'm a composer, cinematographer, writer, photographer and lifehacker

I'm currently improving my vision with exercise rather than glasses or surgery, losing 10-15 pounds, learning music theory and Chinese, discovering Max/MSP (a programming system), and trying to write every day. I play piano and guitar, both self-taught and therefore at a basic level (startlingly so), however, I write a lot of music and people are very excited by it.

My main concentrations: music, neuroscience, secret societies/etc, Macs and the cool little hacks you can do with them, photography, anything Leonardo-related, architecture (particularly modern, post-modern), the Medieval/Rennaissance eras, artificial intelligence, writing/writers, studio tech, Max/MSP, male/female dynamics (especially these days...) Ableton Live (!!!), Photoshop, intention manifestation, cinema, brainwave entrainment (check out Transparentcorp.com .. WAY more sophisticated than binaural beats), internet technology, social dynamics (especially fond of pointing out the obvious in dynamics of a given situation, which everyone knows but doesn't say), sculpture, meditation/Zen, graphic design.

I would like to learn photoreading, learn piano better, learn violin or cello, learn to draw, skydive, be assured a future income somehow, get to a point in my life where women/relationships are a beneficial side effect rather than a focus (nearly there) and learn to express my "core" with other people (I am very secure in my own identity, but have a lot of trouble conveying "who I think I am" when around others--I just come off as "less" than I expect to. I truly want to blow people away, because I think I honestly can!).

In the words of my favorite band, I'm "finding beauty in the dissonance". I am (self-diagnosed, but pretty certain) manic, though usually not depressed (thankfully)--as a result, I find that nearly every day I'm having a near-religious experience. I think this has immeasurably affected me!

This life and this universe are so devastatingly beautiful, it's almost too much to bear--and even when our own lives are depressing and painful, we are still part of something so majestic and grand as to make such momentary trifles insignificant. We ARE truth. We ARE love. And we are living in a beautiful moment, right now... and now... and now. It helps to remember that, and to remind others. That is what I want to do with my life.

So, hi!
