Cool New to this forum

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum as I only recently discovered Steve's site and in fact I found it pretty inspiring so I thought I would join the forum and tell a little story.

I found stevepavlina.com while looking for a new business idea when business was slow (I'm a freelance graphic artist by day). After reading Steve's article on making money while blogging I suddenly changed my outlook. I'll admit that when I first read the title I thought he would be selling some kind of course etc but after reading it through I realized that he was being honest and did not have any ulterior motives. I was intrigued and inspired to do something like this as well (as I'm sure a lot of people are).

So now I still do graphic design but I also run a little online magazine called Sights & Sounds from the Fifth Column (Sights & Sounds from the Fifth Column - Music, Art, Articles & More) with the idea being to promote new ideas about a variety of topics and provide quality content. The topics range from music and art, to politics and news, to self improvement and philosophy with the main theme being ideas of free speech, free thinking, creativity, human rights and maybe changing the world. I regularly publish my own articles but I also wanted to show the talent of others and help others promote their ideas as well so I regularly syndicate articles from other people and accept contributions both in art, (images, music, video) and articles. Its only in its second month (launch date was mid December) so its slow going but I'm not giving up so easily.

I was also inspired to partner up with someone else start a blog/magazine/business site dedicated to films and showing films (student, independent, art films, etc). This site is still in the development stage but we're hoping to go live with it soon.

Anyways, I know this is kind of a long intro, but I figured seeing as how stevepavlina.com had a significant effect on me starting these two sites, I thought it would be appropriate to tell the story.

Thanks to Steve for being so honest in his articles. I really enjoy reading them and hope to help people with my web publications as well.

Thanks everyone here for listening to this long introduction.

Take care,

D.A.N.
