Default Hello, I have nine younger siblings.

Hello Pavlina readers,

After signing up for this forum I was urged by a message to make an introductory post - so this is it. Glad to be here. I mention the fact that I am the oldest of ten children partly because I like to brag and partly because I thought some folks might get a kick out of it...and yep - I'm catholic. Sometimes the stereotype holds true. I'm not planning on having ten kids myself, but I do have a one year old.

Just think, if each of my siblings and myself had ten kids of our own my parents would have one hundred grand kids...

The first article I read on this site was DO it NOW - about time management. I really enjoyed it and have been checking the blog ever since. Ironically, I think this site inspires me to mismange my time on occasion - I often read more articles than I really have time for and before I know it there goes half an hour. But all in all, Steve brings up some interesting ideas...looking forward to some good forumming.

Franco

Talking Hello, First of Ten!

You really got a nice laugh out of me when I read the title you put there!
You're really fortunate to have so many siblings.
I can only imagine how loud it can get at your place!

I'm still trying to digest the 9 younger siblings part.

Default 9 quiet kids? nope

Growing up was fun with so many siblings...it's starting to be even more fun now that half of us are adults. Growing up I always felt like I had to be so responsible, "the big brother," but now my siblings and I feel more like equals, though I think being the oldest has left a permanent mark on my personality. My wife was the youngest in her family so that makes for an interesting contrast.

She just counts on things working out - everyone above her has always taken care of things (not that she's irresponsible.) With me, I've always felt like I have to make sure things are taken care myself or else they won't get done. But I'm starting to learn to let go a little bit and trust more that other people will step up to take care of things as well.

Other results of having nine younger siblings? I have a great appreciation for food, peace and order because so often these things were not always in abundance (though I was well taken care of.)

Welcome Franco! I am the oldest of seven kids, so I sympathize with or identify with, depending on how you are feeling about it right now, your family. LOL. We are Mormon, the other notorious baby making religion! Nice to meet you!

Consecutively." — Jon Stewart
