Hello folks! I'm Chris, a 34 year old feller that was born and raised in the suburbs of Atlanta, Ga. Yes, I still have that damn accent I've been reading Steve's blog for a few months now. I joined the forums because I'd like to find people to inspire and be inspired by. I'm looking for the latter right now, but will provide some great inspiration once I can, promise! I'm also interested in forming a group with folks in SoCal. OC and LA County in particular. I don't know the particulars yet. I'm going to follow Steve's advice and go with the ready-fire-aim approach. Maybe we could meet up monthly to share our goals, update each other on our progress, and encourage each other. I really need to make friends with people that are positive and motivated, and this seems a good place to start looking. So, please, if you are at all interested, drop me a line. We can work out the details as we go. Chris |

Hello! Welcome to the forums! I am new here as well. I live in SoCal, more specifically in Huntington Beach. I would love put something together with you and others! Currently I am traveling but I would still love to participate over the internet. What are you looking to accomplish? Any particular goals in mind? Starting a business? Living a happier life? Anything specific? Thanks and welcome! Jack |

Hiya Jack. Are you a member of the forums welcoming wagon? Well, I'd love to work on three things this year: 1. Running a business 2. Health 3. Relationships (particularly the romantic/sexual variety). I'm not sure if I can work on all three. I think the first may be most important, because I'm tired of depending on someone else for a paycheck. The health because I'm waaaay overweight. And relationships because girls are nice, soft, and make me feel warm and fuzzy. Whereabouts are you in the world? How long is your trip? Plan on being back in Huntington anytime soon? I'll definitely keep you updated on any group going ons. Not sure how it could work over the internet...maybe we could share some emails with each other to update progress? Although you'd be forced to go to any gatherings as soon as you get back from your trip Oh, that reminds me. A mini goal for the year is to travel to the Middle east for a month or so. I would love to do this in 2009, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if it was delayed till 2010. Ok Jack, now we must track down SoCal members. Muahahhahaha! Chris |

Hey! Maybe I got a little anxious when I signed up. I like your goals there! What kind of business do you have in mind? I currently have an internet business that is working well for me allowing me to travel and such. I am currently in New Zealand and I have been traveling for about 3 months. I started in Hawaii for 1 month then Tokyo, Japan.. Beijing, China.. Hong Kong, HK... Bangkok, Thailand.. Auckland, New Zealand.. next is Sydney, Aus. Traveling is not as hard as people think and it doesn't take as much money as people think in many cases. Find yourself a cheap flight and book your reservation in a hostel and your good to go. You will meet many people and you will be able to see the country for a good deal. I was living like a king in Bangkok and I spent maybe $600USD including private room at a hostel but not including the flight costs and I was there for about 1 month! I was thinking although I wouldn't be in the group meeting just chatting with the group online and staying in touch and seeing how we can help each other out. I wont be home for about another 6+ months.. What you want to do for your middle east goal if you really want to make it a reality is decide where you want to go exactly and there could be more than one city. Remember that more flights equal more money but sometimes there are other methods of travel (i.e Train, Bus) or you could always go back at a later date. Sometimes you will realize the country isn't quite what you would expect, good or bad. Check out: LonelyPlanet.com and Travel.Yahoo.com for information on where to go, ratings, and cost related information of staying in the country can be found in the lonelyplanet site under each cities' "Practical Information" section. Then determine about how much a hostel will cost at Hostels.com if its not already included in the "Practical Information" section or if you have alot of money and/or you don't like socializing you can look for a hotel. Add up all your costs and figure out how long it will take for you to save that much money. Say you need $4,000 then can you save $500 per month? $250? Then decide how many months will it take you to hit $4,000 then just go for it. When I make goals what I find that helps is picking a date. For instance, write on your wall "I will go to XXXXX in the middle east in December of 2009". Make sure you can see it! Do the same with the health goals as well, say you want to lose X pounds a month then how are you going to do that? You got to ask yourself these questions because things don't USUALLY magically happen. "How will I be changing myself to get to these goals that I want in X months?" "The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work." -- Vince Lombardi How about this.. eating less to lose weight will save you money.. That money could go toward your trip to the middle east. To goals at once and working on one will be making the next one come true!! Just some thoughts. Take care, Jack |

Jack, thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to put together a...what do they call it...vision board! Just put up a cork board or something, and put pictures of all the things I want to accomplish. lifetimelearner- What part of Ga? I was born and raised in the 'burbs of Atlanta. I also lived in Augusta for a few years. Azzyboo- You have to let us know how your boy reacts when you use those lines on him |

Hey, Definitely go with a vision board. I went a little extreme and covered my room with quotes and pictures.. I even had, before I started traveling, a 4 foot by 8 foot whiteboard screwed to my wall so I could strategize ideas and write quotes and to do lists, etc etc.. -- Jack |
