Hello all! My name is Annie and I'm 20 years old and I currently go to a college in San Diego and I was raised in Orange County, California. I was about to post in the Personal Effectiveness forum but in the midst of typing I felt like I answered my own question and felt no need for other people's feedback anymore. But I still wanted to make a post on here just to establish my online presence in this community otherwise I will keep putting it off (oh, procrastination!) and be doomed to the likes of lurking forever! I've been lurking around these forums for a couple months now and I've been following Steve since I graduated high school two years ago. Right now I am interested in making the most out of life and my collegiate experience and improving my skills in web and graphic design. I have many goals and ambitions and I'm in the process of finding out what's really important to me. I have this "thing" about posting in online forums where I always feel like I'm saying something stupid so when I write a post I will either not post it or if I do submit a post, I will start to feel like my words are foolish and not open the thread where I posted again. I'm trying to change that about me. "Those who matter, don't mind, and those who mind, don't matter." |

In my real world life I'm actually trying to say less things and make the things I do say, count. Oh the ironies!

I guess I edit my thoughts and words a lot in real life too so I don't say much to people I don't really know yet or don't "click" with unless I feel I can really contribute to the conversation. I seem to find myself in many situations where I find the conversations of my colleagues uninteresting so sometimes I'm immediately mislabeled as the "shy quiet girl."

i have the same experience- i'm always labeled "shy and quiet", i don't appreciate the label but i can see how for the people giving me the label it may be accurate. good luck with all your goals.

Hello Annie, Welcome to the forums! I am new here as well, I just posted my first thread in the Intro section. Im glad to see another young person wanting more out of life and is here working to have it. I'm 20 as well. Im looking to make some new friends that have the same interest as me for once so if you would like to chat I'll be on the forums! Feel free to PM me as well if you'd like. See you around! -- Jack |
