My first post to the Pavlina forums! This has seriously been a long time coming... I found Personal Development for Smart People in early 2005 as I was searching personal development - something I spent most of my days doing at that time - as I worked for the mortgage division of a bank and was bored crazy! Now late 2008 This is definitely the happiest time in my life - and just keeps getting better. We just moved in to a new place... I don't even have curtains yet!!!... I think maybe they will be Purple... I'm currently preparing for a trip to Austin, TX at the end of the month to attend a workshop to gain my certification as a Hypnobirthing instructor. I am so totally excited about this. I have lots of interests - the main ones being birth and parenting, however I'm also into healing and everything that encompasses. I have also recently purchased the domain name BirthHaven as Haven is my last name and... yippie! I will soon have a website! Sometimes I feel my life is totally out of control I am so completely excited to talk with all of you.. and.. don't be creeped out or anything.. but.. I've got to admit I've been lurking for quite some time.. So I know you better than you know me! |

Haven44, how nice to hear from you, and your bright, enthusiastic energy. I am so looking forward to hearing everything you have to say, and I hope you have a wonderful time here. Hypnobirthing sounds very interesting -- does that mean no drugs? Is it like being a midwife, or does somebody else do the .... hands-on work? Have fun! |

Hi Angela! Thanks so much for your kind words. Hypnobirthing does mean no drugs! It is a philosophy as much as a technique - the basic idea of which is - in the absence of fear and tension, or special medical circumstances, severe pain does not have to be an accompaniment of labor. As an educator, I will teach women (and their partners) to trust birth, their bodies and their baby. Also to eat nutritiously and to release fear and limiting thoughts. Women have been giving birth for like 250,000 years, there is a perfect system in place!! As an educator, I won't be attending births...but training in midwifery is definitely the path I'm on. |

I have chosen a mission to say "Hello" to all new visitors. I recently was able to open the door to the membership component of my company and I am very excited to get back to welcoming everyone. You have taken a great step in creating the life you desire. A big pat on the back for the courage and motivation. This no drugs birthing method sounds very interesting. Good-Luck I'll see you on the path. |
