EDIT: Apparently, I'm the youngest one here (at least, judging by the posts on the first five pages of this topic). Interesting. I probably shouldn't reveal that, lest I ostracize myself from those wonderful rational discussions. Eh. Last edited by TechnoGuyRob; 11-06-2006 at 08:15 PM.

Nudging the scales a bit, I have seen about 110 seasons come and go. Given the age distribution around here, I should be having my mid-life crisis by now, so I'll just be off buying a bike and leather jacket. I come from a rather down-to-earth country, and even though I am usually more halfway-to-jupiter, years of social conditioning have left their marks, so I more or less float through life, in more than one sense even. I first read Steve's early articles on the Dexterity site back in 2001/2 (not sure) and have probably indirectly been influenced into fully leaving normal employment early this year (after an, um, educational attempt in 2003). Anyway, I'm curious about the forum and send my regards to all. |

I, too, appreciate the diversity, age/gender/location/etc., that we have represented here. Steve, thanks for bringing us all together, and for providing this forum for exchange! Quote:
I'm planning my 1/3 life party for this time next year, because I couldn't wait for a half-life party. ("Days of a man's life are 120 years" and everyone knows women live 7 years longer than men, so. . .I figure I'd better look at taking care of this body so it'll still be running strong in another 86 years!) Hello everyone! I just recently turned 25 years old. I really am surprised at how young the forum members are. I thought I was going to be in the minority in age. I also want to give Steve and Erin a huge thank you for setting up the message board. I know a lot of good ideas and topics will be discussed here. I am very glad to be a part of it. |

I'm 10.8 (in hex...aka 16.5). I started reading Steve's blog last year around September-October when I was 15 and it really helped me a lot in life. I also didn't realize how many high schoolers were interested in personal dev.

I may well have missed someone and didn't mean to here....I'm wondering if we'd like to start a thread somewhere populated by over 40-er's...From the poll that wd be 9 + 8 + 4 + 3..... I thought a bit about just where age-wise this might be and settled on 40's plus but naturally the thread would be open for everyone so would attract people by interest every bit as much as age... The main thing this idea is NOT, is to split off anyone by age !!! I don't think about what age someone might be when I'm posting with them, haven't ever yet...At the same time, the DAY I turned 50, that is February 19. 1953 I think we'd have a lot to share, just being middle agers/baby boomers.. I'll not plan to decrease my activity otherwise and think that's real important, would want this for inclusive reasons not to split anyone off... thoughts anyone? All best, Ati

I was just trying to realize why the different age ranges have a different year interval within them. Can a statistic be accurate with such "random" ranges? Joan P.S. Sorry for the poor question, but I've never taken statistics in english. |

The biggest age group IS 25-35. @Joan: Yes, you can. Age is considered an ordinal value, even in ranges. You might have some problems if you try to perform statistical analysis on anything, but as far as data collection goes, there's nothing wrong with random or arbitrary ranges. Granted, I'm far, far, far from an expert on statistics. (I keep meaning to learn more, but there's just so much stuff!) Oh, and I don't think I posted in this thread yet... 21 years and counting. |

I'm 53 and like a lot of the ladies on the board I've raised kids and now I'm ready for the next stage. When I was young I thought that by age 50 I'd have it all figured out! I'd participate in an over-40 board although we should give it a sexier name. Val |

32 here. I usually hang with 50+ year olds because in the "real" world they seem to be the ones interested in this stuff. I'll head on over to the local groups board now. See if I can find some folks my age in my area. Good to see so many young people. |
