Hey,

I've been reading Steve's blog off and on for the last few months. It's an interesting experience to read something that articulates a thought, feeling, or concept that you've never noticed well enough to actually put into words. This has happened to me several times over the last few months. I've been going through some personal changes for the last couple of years and have become completely bogged down. My motivation level is practically non-existent. I have an excessively hard time staying on task with anything I try to do. Needless to say, it's causing, shall we say, complications. Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that most of it is simple self-sabotage. I'm hoping to find some info in the forums that will allow me to explore what's going on in my head and heart to determine why I'm so disgruntled with myself that I torpedo everything I try to do to make my life better. So that's my intro. Thanks for reading.

Hi Dave! Welcome to my part of the world. I was thinking about what you wrote and the thought that sprang to my mind regarding motivation was "handle one piece a time." Steve has some really good thoughts about procrastination in one of the blogs - that was the first thing I read on this website. So if I bite off a little bit of a project - keeping in mind "the whole" will get done eventually - I can handle more tasks and get "unstuck" (er, that's hopefully! I'm working on this! The other night I did manage to write out 10 Xmas cards for friends/family which I had been procrastinating seriously for a few weeks. I still gotta tackle the 70 cards to send out for work! Maybe tomorrow's goal will be "get 10 mailed out." See? Small pieces!) So take this for what's it worth. I feel more empowered lately to get more done so I'm excited about the process. Be well! Jen
