Talking Hello there

Hi there,

Just a quick note to introduce myself to the forum.

My name is Dan, I live in Brighton, England. I am 25 years of age and working as a web designer.

I've always suffered with low self esteem but since moving down to Brighton (away from my close friends and family) my confidence and self esteem have hit an all time low. I've spent a long time wallowing in self pity and self absorption and am desperate to move past this particularly boring phase in my life.

I have read a lot of literature and listened to a lot of talks on how to build self esteem, some of it I've found really useful and some I've found idealistic or just unworkable. I haven't as yet, succeeded in changing my negative thought patterns in to positive ones.

For me the main problem lies in perseverance. I can start using a technique and get some initial gains from it but have found that the clouded thoughts that accompany an anxious/depressed state of mind make it hard for me to work methodically and with patience on my problems (if that makes any sense).

I'm joining the forum because I have to find a means of support in order to clarify my position and journey. I also hope to be able to offer help to others mainly because its about time I thought about someone else apart from my self for a bit.

Take care,

Dan

Welcome Dan! I just joined today, and find this forum very, very helpful -- I'll (practically) bet that you will find it just as helpful.

Hello Scatmandon and welcome!

You must keep trying! This is the big secret! This is the thing that will make your self confidence skyrocket! The only way to build self confidence is with baby steps and don't get discouraged if it takes a while to get there. It's supposed to be that way. It's only a test for you. If you pass it you will become stronger each day! Don't give up and remember: perseverance can be learn by doing it often !

The past is gone. The future is far away. The present is a gift. Open it and enjoy it now!
