| Hi all! Living in Thailand for almost four years now. I gave up job, house, car, boat, etc to move to a simpler way of life. WOW, best thing I've ever done! Hope to find some friends here in the forums. I have degrees in psychology and before leaving the USA I was an Internet Marketing Manager for a resort in Maui, Hawaii. Now, here in Thailand I blog. That's it, just blog and write like a fiend. I don't make much but that's ok - don't need much in Thailand! Thanks to Steve for this opportunity to meet other StevePavlina.com readers in the forum... Vern! Aim for Awesome! |

| Hey Vern -- thanks for joining! Your post is amazingly timely for me. I had a long talk with someone about Thailand today. He highly recommended taking some time off and living there for a while to gain perspective. It's really funny to read your intro so soon after that conversation. What is the language of Thailand? Do many people speak English? How is the food? How is the cost of living? Can you buy a house there for a reasonable amount? Welcome aboard!

| Thailand is so amazing... People speak THAI - and English is weak here among Thais. Plenty of westerners from all over the world living here though. I live in Krabi, in the south. Similar to Hawaii. Prices are much cheaper though. The food is unmatched in taste, variety and it's cheap! I've eaten Thai food for almost 4 yrs and I've loved it. Amazing tastes in Thai cuisine. Easy to buy house? Yes. Prices here - start around 4mm baht - over 100K usd. Can buy a 1mm baht house in Isaan (northeast) with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths, though no westerners and an easier lifestyle... I prefer it that way. You can't legally own your home so will need to put it in someone's name. I wouldn't trust anyone with that... Many guys do though. Come to Thailand and at least SEE IT. You won't regret it. Thanks for writing! Vern |
