Default Forum status

Welcome, moderators and early arrivals.

There will be about 30 moderators total (2 per forum), and all of them were notified by email today. About half have already set up their accounts, and I'll be promoting them to moderator status soon.

If all goes well, I'll announce the forums publicly in the blog on Friday. Over the next couple days, I'll be tweaking the forum layout and options and installing a plug-in or two, so don't get too attached to the current structure. Most likely I'll add some additional navigational links and some ads, but I plan to keep the ads here fairly moderate (i.e. no ads intermingled with the individual threads and posts). Don't be alarmed if there's some intermittent downtime over the next couple days -- it shouldn't last long.

In the meantime everything is essentially operational, so if you want to start up some new topics in any of the forums, feel free. Just don't expect much of a discussion until the doors officially open.

Tweaking these forums will probably be a never-ending task, but my main goal is to finish the essentials in order to launch by Friday.

I'm excited to see what kind of community develops here.

I think we're all excited too. This might be the most positive launch of a forum ever?

What are we going to do about design? The whole vBulletin header is a bit dull. I know we're just launching; just an inquiry.

I can tweak the design later, but I think for now it's more important to get this puppy launched. Ready, fire, aim.

Yeah yeah yeah, I got that idea from you. I tell people that all the time. You're constantly giving me information to spread around. If we get subtitles (a nom de plume, if you will) i'd like to be "Information Liaison" cuz that's what I see myself as!

I went to the dexterity site a day too late I guess huh?

sweet... I don't mind the simplicity of it - it's the information that's important.

Ready. Fire. Aim.

Good words. Here's a bullet I made:

Needs polish, I know, but I just thought I'd throw a bone out there.

Very nice, Andreas. That's a bone I'm happy to eat for now. Check it out. Thanks!

Whoa, Steve, I'm shockified. You're fast.

And I'm honored. I'm glad you like it. Graphic design is something I'm very passionate about. If you want me to make any changes, let me know.
