| Hi everyone, I had a feeling I should join this forum, so here I am! I'm an American living in Madrid, Spain. I'm at a point in my life where I want to make positive changes and have recently become reflective enough to realize some the roadblocks I was constantly putting in my life before through negative thinking. I'd always considered myself a pessimist. I would worry a lot about everything and suffered through depression for several years. I've also had a difficult problem with shyness for as long as I can remember. Several things have been occurring the last year that make me think they are signals pointing me to take a different direction in my life. First of all, last year I decided I wanted to try to be positive. No major reason really except that I was tired of feeling upset and stressed out all of the time. Then, earlier this year I read Getting Things Done by David Allen and couldn't help but think there was a spiritual underlining to it. It helped me immensely. Later, my husband and I had a friend recommend us The Law of Attraction by the Hicks. We thought the message was good, but felt critical about the authenticity of the authors, but that's another subject. Later, we started watching Derren Brown and then after that The Dog Whisper. I also read Steve's post about Polyphasic Sleep a couple years ago when he first wrote it, but then never visited the site again. I can't remember how I found the site again, but I did and now here I am. I've been going through as many articles and the forum also the last few weeks and I find a lot of the information really makes sense to me. So anyway, I might be nuts, but it just seems to me that all of these things are related somehow. Like if life is telling me, "You are the one behind the steering wheel". I'm starting to recognize that a lot of the bad situations I have been in and the lack of love I felt from my friends and family had a lot to do with myself. My constant stressing, worrying, and lack of confidence was really damaging to my life. So, now it's all just starting to make sense to me. My husband and I have made some major changes in our lives and feel like we are starting over. We started walking every day and hiking on the weekends as well as eating better and trying to think more positively. We want to move to the U.S. next year and are working on manifesting the money to get there. I think we'll make it. I've also been feeling lately like I would like to meet more positive people that are moving in the same direction and this just seemed like a nice place to start. So, hello all! |

| Nomi just wanted to reply because of what you had to say and because of your location. I am wondering why you want to move back to the U.S... I hear and understand your journey that you are currently embarked on and I applaud you for taking life by the wheel (as you said). It is very hard and scary to change the persons that we have become over our life times but as you stated there comes a time that things must change if we know that we are not on the right path to true life fulfillment, I to have started this journey and am bring my wife and daughter along with me. My situation is similar but opposite as to location. I and my family would like to move to Europe and Spain was one of our choices. I am wondering how it is that you live in Spain and why you want to move to the U.S. As for my family our reasons for wanting to be in Europe is due to my wife’s family located in Europe. I know that being closer to family will have a positive impact that will make our journey to reach our life potential's less stressful and easier to come to fruition at least until the next step in the journey makes its self evident. I wish you all the best and know that you will find your way if you stay true to your self and to your goal of being happy and free of fear and enjoying life to the fullest. | Hi Kim, Thanks for your nice message. I wish you and your family a nice journey as well, no matter where you decide to go. We are basically moving out of Spain for several reasons. I'll list them here.
I realize that these things may come off as negative, but that's not my intention. Spain has a lot of nice things to offer, it's just not the best place for us. I hope this helps a little bit. Good luck to you! |

| Thanks Nomi for your sharing. I can understand the reasons that you have given for your wish to return. I am sure that you have grown greatly due to the time that you have spent in Spain and maybe that just the fact that you are in Spain is why you and your husband are now in motion of positive change. The saying that the grass is always greener on the other side is only true until you actually get to the other side, at least from my experiences. I wish you all the best and am pulling for you to get what you want. Have a great day and stay in the good |
