Hi everyone! I bumped into SP.com about a year ago. It has inspired me for some changes in my life, although I'm still struggling a lot..hehe..just trying to turn that big ocean liner slowly into the right direction, towards the glorious harbours in the distant islands, although some big waves often throw me off the course, especially because the ship's captain isn't awake and aware all the time. |

Cheers, I am surprised to see another one from Finland here, as hostile as our culture seems to be towards self-improvement (remember what happened to Jari Sarasvuo?). I'm also quite new here, hopefully we can share our mapping information to avoid the worst underwater rocks... |

Also glad to see some other members from Finland! I am living in Helsinki, though originally from the UK. I have been reading Steve's blog for about 8 months now - this Forum is a great idea and looking forward to getting allot from it, by putting allot into it. First though I am escaping the December darkness with 4 weeks in India, so maybe not on here much during that time. Looking forward to chatting more. Oliver |

Hehe, I don't clearly remember what happened to him as I was an uninterested teenager in the 90's, but I think he has been more or less ridiculed in Finnish media and discussion. At least he's a controversial figure. But I've read one of his books (Sisäinen sankari), currently reading another one, and I'd say they're very motivating, and I would recommend them for every Finnish person who is not currently living the life of his/her dreams. I guess I could say Sarasvuo is kind of a Finnish equivalent for Anthony Robbins, although he uses a bit different methods. Yeah, there certainly exists this traditional "thou shalt not differ from the group" or "success is for greedy people" jealousy-culture in Finland, but I think, or at least hope, that it's going to vanish more and more. It's not among the business/carreer people of course but it can be found among the more working class/"ordinary" people, and I think that such nonsense can even prevent some great carreers and succesfull people from emerging. |
