| My plans: Tonight: Wash the car. Pick up fat free refried beans, mustard, and veggie corn dogs. Laundry! Tomorrow: Get car worked on. Needs new brake pads. Going to farmer's market to get peppers, tomato, some kind of fruit, and avocado. Plan on taking a nice long walk and going to the dog park and watching the puppies. Also going to Borders since I have $10 in Borders Bucks. Going out that evening. Sunday: Hang out with Slamhot Boy and make omelets. Whatever happens from there out is a surprise. What's everyone else up to?

| I've learned not to plan my weekends too extensively. The official household social coordinator (my wife) typically fills up my time pretty well. That said, I'd be happy if I was able to accomplish the following: Make it to a gas station tonight without running out of fuel. Housework & Laundry Get through church without my dear little toddler driving anyone crazy Get the car washed Get half the buildup of papers cleared off the kitchen counter Go to the park for some rollerblading (haven't done that all summer yet) Get the yard work done Trim some of the hedges Find something a bit more filling for an afternoon snack That's probably a little optimistic, especially the rollerblading, but it'll do. If I can keep most of Saturday and a good chunk of Sunday afternoon for myself, maybe it'll all get done. Come to think of it, I should plan to be up early tomorrow and sneak off to the park for some rollerblading before anyone else realizes I'm gone. Thanks for the opportunity to think about the weekend, Maeve.

| I'm going to read ten or more books about business, thanks to speed reading and application of the 80/20 rule (80 percent of a book is irrelevant or stuff I already know) and start refreshing my Spanish skills. I'm also going to spend some time meditating. Have a fun weekend everyone! |

| Yay! Three people having a weekend!

| Whew! I'm ending the week on a high note, as I just finished a job and sent out some pretty good-sized invoices Since we're having a heat wave where I live, I'm going to get up bright and early Saturday morning before the heat sets in and have a 5 or 6 mile hike in the woods. Then I'm going to relax in the pool, grill out when the sun goes down and sit on the deck, sipping wine and practicing Italian. |

| Clean.

| I just put my house on the market the week before last (a two year journey finally coming to an end!!!!). Anyhow, I am going to be taking care of a few minor details that need to be squared away in order to make the house perfect. For my next trick I am going to singlehandedly straighten out the housing market so I might actually make a profit. Anybody have any ideas how that could be done |

| Yesterday was good, although I didn't wash the car because the landlady and I decided to hang for a bit. I'm taking a camera to the farmer's market to take some pictures for my mother, since she lives on the east coast. I know she's going to love it. I'm really excited for her visit in October, so I kind of want her to get a feel for the cool stuff we can do. Anyway, I'll post some of the pics here just for the hell of it.

| Yesterday was great. I played Four Square with friends for a while, went off to lunch with them, and happily loafed around the rest of the day, doing lots of people watching and reading. Climbing one of my favorite trees, I meditatively watched people go by and processed thoughts for a while. Later that night I came back and took a nap in the tree (something I simply wanted to try out), then went off into the woods to sleep beneath the stars This morning I walked to the farmer's market and then headed for the local co-op grocery store/restaurant, ended up talking with a guy in his 70s that I'd never met before for about an hour, and now I'm happily typing away outside on the community wireless connection Tonight I may check out a movie at the community center, and tomorrow morning I'll be bicycling to Duke Gardens, then watch a movie on the local green space. |

| The ONLY reason I'm inside on the computer rather than floating in the pool sipping a pina colada is because we had a thunderstorm, complete with rain. I'm torn because it has been incredibly hot and dry here, so we need the rain but I was really looking forward to working on my tan! Also got an email this morning with another job on my calendar for one day next week. That makes three altogether next week and that's a good thing! |

| Someone on an unschooling e-mail list I'm on said she and her daughters were watching TV, texting, reading magazines and playing DS games. She called it "multislacking". I'm co-opting that word for myself! |

| Well, I've made it through all my list except the last three: yard work, hedge trimming (too wet for those two) and getting to the store. The house is clean, laundry done (which usually doesn't happen 'till Sunday night), some counter space reclaimed, car washed and gassed, made it through church without having to leave the sanctuary even once (a real feat lately) and actually rollerbladed for the first time this year. The only thing I'm bummed about is that I wanted to blade 12 miles, but only got in 6. It was raining most of the way, too. I woke up at 6 to hopefully get some pretty good distance in before my son woke up. Anyway, the trail is park of a park system around here and goes 6 miles around a lake. I was about 2 miles into it when the wife called that my dear toddler was awake (at 6:30, 7:30 or 8 is normal). P.S. I even got a whirlpool bath in.

| Final update: the hedges didn't get done, but everything else did. My trimmer is broken and I didn't feel like monkeying with it. My wife also needed time to prepare for some job interviews today, so I took the little tyke out to the stores for a while instead. Had a new parenting experience, too. Changing a dirty & sandy diaper. Blech! When he plays in the sandbox, I'll certainly be changing him before he has a chance to dirty the diaper from now on!

| Fell asleep before going out and the car's still filthy. Oh well. Also? Didn't get to Borders. DID get a get tamale and a magic cookie! And learned about push pull technique in drumming.

| I got some of the tasks done, but nowhere near as many as I would have liked to. It doesn't help that I am 30 miles from there nearest hardware store and had to keep running back for bits and pieces that I didn't know I needed. I'm taking next weekend off to 'recharge my batteries' and get a fresh start next month. |

| It rained both Saturday and Sunday here, so I didn't get as much outdoor time as I wanted to. Did manage to cook a gourmet meal last night that I've been planning Grilled marinated chicken topped with grilled tomatoes and fresh basil Imaginative green beans (blanched and then tossed in a mixture of sauteed onions, olive oil and bread crumbs) Zucchini stuffed with asparagus and parmesan cherries steeped in red wine with whipped cream I LOVE to cook when I have all the ingredients needed and plenty of time. I turn up my CD player and dash around the kitchen....... |

| On Saturday I went to the Stitches and Craft show at Rosehill (Sydney), took a couple of workshops. One was for wired beads, sat at home on Saturday night wiring up all the beads I could find. The other was beading a Christmas panel, finished the beading and stitching on Sunday. I also bought some wool/silk blend, started spinning that on Sunday night and most of yesterday. Now I have gorgeous yarn to knit something with. |
