| I used to really be into Radiohead, but found it was actually making me feel down and gloomy. Electronica is the opposite. Fast-paced thumping beats always lifts me up. All I ever listen to is Electronica. I tend to bounce back and forth from trance to house, but love progressive house mainly: Digweed, Cattaneo, Satoshi... Uplifting deep house sets by Farina also do it for me. Sometimes when I'm feeling unmotivated, I'll bump some house and all of a sudden, I'm off my ass doing what I have to do. At first, I really thought this would be some sort of music phase and I'd get over it.. just like how I used to dig underground hip-hop in the 90's & be a huge Radiohead and Incubus fan. But it's been this way for well over five years now so this must be my music passion. Anyone else here have a strong love for electronica? |

| I like infected mushroom, paul van dyk and others. They produce some really colorful sounds. But after a while electronica tends to bore me and I have to start litening to classical again, a genre that IMO has much more to offer. But I think electronica is great for certain situations. It can get me pretty energized. I'll check out the artists you mentioned, nothing beats new music to test out! I never understood radiohead. Why do people like them?

| Yes, i like electronic music. From old stuff (Kraftwerk, Brian Eno) to contemporary electronic / techno stuff. Not so much into House though, don't even know much. Newer stuff: Autechre, Bernhard Fleischmann, Lali Puna and some others i don't remember right now. Nice electro-song btw: Good morning, hypocrite radicalfacetour

| I don't have time for a long reply atm but I just had to put on my genre-nazi hat for a moment. Electronica is a specific genre of electronic music. Electronic music is what you're talking about. It's an important distinction because the recent adoption of the term 'electronica' as a general description of all electronic music means that what used to be called electronica no longer has a name. Not really fair, I think. Of course who am I to fight against the masses. And yes, I love it (though I like some electronica too). Hybrid are my favourite group, followed by Plump DJs, then everything on the Platipus label. After that comes everything else in no particular order. Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection, Delerium, Decoder Ring, and many many more. |

| I guess the term 'Electronica' is used the way the term 'Techno' is here. I.e., People will often say "I hate techno" but what they actually mean is "I hate all the commercial trance/techno people in their hotted up, lowered cars with twin 16" sub woofers play" ...they lump all styles into one without realising that techno is a specific sub-genre, and not really a good representation of what electronic music has to offer. Right. /end rantish lecture Peleke, if you like Digweed you may have heard him play some Hybrid and Way Out West. Highly recommended if you haven't heard of them specifically (I'd be surprised if you hadn't at least heard some of their tracks). Hybrid's Wide Angle album is particularly good, as is Way Out West's Intensify (Mindcircus still makes me shiver). I'm a big fan of Deep House too, though I'm not big on the names of deep house artists or DJs. Electronic music has been my number 1 since about 1984 when I went to my first rave and saw Ultra Sonic (don't laugh). Thankfully my taste grew a little after that, first thanks to the Reactivate label (which gradually lost my favour), but mainly thanks to the Platipus label (who do a very good job at making money out of the same tracks, over and over, but nevermind), which includes Art of Trance, Union Jack (waterdrums is fantastic), P.O.B and many more. You may have heard Madagascar by Art of Trance, or Calling Your Name by Libra. Though my current fave release from Platipus is their Widescreen album, which is kind of a mix between their style of Trance and Deep House. L.S.G is another old fave, and Orbital, The Orb, BT, General Midi, Stanton Warriors, and on and on. (speaking of which, Halcyon + on + on by Orbital is a great early morning track). As for DJs, and mention of Digweed automatically brings Sasha to mind, and their great work on many GU and Northern Exposure albums. Then there's Dave Seaman, Anthony Pappa, Steve Lawler, Sander Kleinenberg, Danny Tenaglia. And that's just the House(ish) DJs. Basically, pick almost any style of electronic music and I'll have a fave or two. Trance, D'n'B, Breaks, Deep House, Psy-trance, Techno, Ambient, etc etc... Not so big on electro. (ironically I'm not so big on electronica either Calculusaurus, it's probably just personal taste you're referring to, but I firmly believe that in terms of variety, electronic music easily has as much to offer as classical music. As for Radiohead, I like some of their music, but I can't say why. Particularly the vocals. I *should* find them whiny and grating, but I like them for some reason. They're eclectic in a way that works for me. Hmmm... Karl, good recommendation, I like! Reminds me a little of The Postal Service. Which is good because they're a group I love Ok, enough outta me for now |

| I love DJ Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Astral Projection, etc. I have noticed this though: all my friends dislike trance. All of them.

| I've seen the following DJ's live: Sandra Collins, Donald Glaude, DJ Dan, Paul Van Dyk, Felix the Housecat, Chemical Brothers (dj set), Sasha & Digweed, Digweed (solo), Howells and Burridge (12 hour tag team!!!!, wasn't there the entire time though), Paul Trainwreckfold, Hernan Cattaneo, Seb Fontaine, Judge Jules, Armin Van Buuren, Pete Tong, Swedish Egil, Mark Farina, James Zabiela, Above and Beyond, Masterkraft... there could possibly be a few more. Browsed through the posts, someone mentioned "mind circus." That song is soooo sweet! I saw PVD at the Mayan about a couple years back and this was the last track he dropped. Bought the Way Out West cd just for this track... and I'm pissed because I lost the cd, I do have the cd case though. I trip out how random cd's just vanish like that Out of all the DJ's I've seen, the group that really surprised me most, really impressed me... Now I was actually planning to leave when they started cause I just wasn't into them... but this group started off so strong, I stayed for the first tracks. Then track after track.. this group rocked big time! If you've ever heard the analogy of a set being like a "roller coaster" ride, that set took it above and beyond that. They even ended just as strong as they started. The group I'm talking about is Deep Dish. Never bought their albums, heard a few tracks like "say hello" and that updated fleetwood mac track. Wrong of me to jump to conclusions! Most surprising of all, I felt their set was actually better than Sasha & Digweed's |

| Old Skool!: Tangerine Dream, Jarre, Vangelis, Tomita, Kraftwerk - all of whom went rubbish after 1986 when technology seemed to overtake them I think. These days not much, but I like: Monolake, David Toop, Global Communication, Paul Schutze, Underworld, Dan Curtin and odds and ends like some of Boards of Canada. It's all too easy now! |

| I find alot of eletronica a bit cheesy.Trance can fall into this catagory. What i do Enjoy is Drum and Bass seems to have all the high energy of trance with out that cheezy feeling i get when I listen to trance (altho i do enjoy it sometimes). Check out some groups like: Concord Dawn & Black Sun Empire two of my personal favs. |

| Jean Michel Jarre is a good artist, and so is Röyksopp and some others. But I am a totally un-gengre lover, I go for the thing that really stick out to me and make myself feel a bit more good. electronica seems to be the messy word over in USA for all European Electronic music, when there is as much gengres into this umbrella as it is under the umbrella of Pop/rock. Love Leelene

| First of all, I met this girl recently and we were like the only two sober people in the club. Everyone around us was shitfaced. I thought this girl was cool because we shared the same interests in PD/self-help. She started getting into this after watching "The Secret" and "What the Bleep do we Know." Rarely do I meet people who are into this; that's why I browse this forum. this forum is like my PD release. She recommended that I watch the movie "Peaceful Warrior." I asked her who the main star of the flick was and she told me Nick Nolte. She then started telling me a story about a negative experience she had with Nolte. Now, I thought that was really funny because years ago when I was in junior high, I too had a negative experience w/ Nolte! Anyway, I did check out the flick and I liked it. It's basically about living the moment, in the here and now... same theme as that book "The Power of Now." So yesterday I was at a record shop sifting through the Electronica section. I was going to take a nice cruise and wanted to listen to some progressive along the way. I came across David Seaman's Renaissance CD. Although I don't know much about him, I knew he was progressive so I picked this up. While I was cruising, I'm bumping this progressive set. Rather than chilling out and being in the moment, my thoughts started to drift towards negativity. I've been really busy lately w/ a lot on my plate. At that moment, a progressive tribal beat with sweet piano riffs come on. And then I hear, "I have no memory. Everyday is a new day. I don't remember the day before. Every minute is like the first minute of my life. I try to remember, but I can't. My mind is like a tape recorder with one button... ERASE." I thought that was really sweet because it totally interrupted the negative thoughts creeping to mind. It reminded me to be in the here and now... to chill out and enjoy life at that moment. The track is by Slacker and is called "Memory Man." (Slacker's "Fusion" is actually my favorite track on Sasha & Digweed's classic album "Communicate.") And then one of the sweetest uplifting tracks blended nicely after: Skystate's Soundflower One. |

| electronic music is definitely my favorite genre as of late, mainly cause i have a really musical brain and it's generally focused on the music and production which i understand way better than lyrics. plus i'm learning how to produce, and understanding all the work that goes into the production process really adds a lot of depth to the music, like if you know the technique that goes into making a particular sound then its a lot easier to recognize how much skill went into it that usually goes unnoticed. i'm into IDM, drum n bass, dub, big beat, minimal and downtempo a lot. my favorite producers include... lets see: timo maas, way out west, junkie xl, hybrid, swayzak, trentemoller, minilogue, thunderball, the crystal method, the boards of canada, karsh kale, mint royale, paul oakenfold etc... and for less refined feel good club music benny benassi is always good, and fc kahuna, and mstrkrft. i could go on. anybody have any suggestions for other artists i would like? |

| For some awesome downtempo mixes, check out Thetastates, particularly the Chinchillin' sets. |

| If you're talking electronic music you will rarely fin anything as innovative as the Art of Noise circa 83-85. They are sounds unlike any other and even now sound fresh and powerful. Madonna walked up the aisle with Sean Penn with Moments in Love and Beatbox and Close (to the edit) are dance classics. Listen to a couple of sample tracks on their myspace page: MySpace.com - The Art Of Noise - Other / Ambient / Indie - www.myspace.com/theartofnoise2

| I likes me my electronic sounds. Lately been listening to lots of 808 State, Future Sound of London, (the stuff I grew up loving), and groups like Basement Jaxx, Booka Shade, Justice, which I guess would be considered house. But my hero of at least the last year has been Luomo, can't stop listening to him. I subscribe to emusic, and that's how I hear most of the new stuff, along with the free podcast "dance department" from the iTunes store. Basically my favorite type of music, I write it too. Everything is electronic these days. "Electronica" bugged me when it came out, but at the time I was calling it "techno". Now I just call it dance music. Too many genres. |

| I love it too... After I learned about LOA, I felt compelled to quit my favorite nasty rockers like Manson, Zombie, Tool, Godsmack, Rage...excellent music, cool lyrics but too dark and dank for my new mindset. I agree with the thread starter. Electronica genre fills the void nicely and is much more energizing music. Jennifer |

| They are great. Moments in Love is one of my favorite tracks (although there are a few different versions). Always blisses me out. |
