Default Heavy metal music

Hello!!! I'm a big fan of heavy metal music for 7 years now(I'm 19), and it has always been my passion and inspiration. I like bands such as Pantera, Testament, Paradise lost, Kamelot, Metal church, Sepultura, Type of negative...
I'm very interested to see if anyone here is also a metal fan, and everyone's opinion about it.

My son was playing a game the other day on his playstation, and the music in it caught my attention, I actually like it , it was a group called "Godsmack",

I also liked the music score in the movie The Covenant, I think the music was Rob Zombie

is this considered metal?

I am a fan of heavy music since i was maybe 15. I am 33 now.
Starting with Bon Jovi, then WASP, Metallica, Slayer, Godflesh ...
To me heavy metal is the simple man's opera.
Don't look for new bands nowadays, mainly listen to stuff i liked when i was younger.
I also broadened my musical horizon a lot - to electronic music, hip hop and such.

No. Smashing Pumpkins came out of the grunge era, but are not really grunge. More like indie rock. Anyone?

I like Judas Priest, AC/DC, Metallica, Queensryche, stuff like that. Tenacious D (sometimes odd stuff, but good metal music) and Avenged Sevenfold are bands I've been listening to recently.

There's not a lot of new metal coming out that I'm aware of, but I'm not a radio listener. Just online radio - Hard Radio

I'm a big fan of symphonic metal, some of which isn't really 'metal' in the strict sense (Lacuna Coil, Kamelot, etc.). I also like some of the heavier stuff, although I'm more modern in my music tastes than most peopel seem to be.

Have you ever listened to S&M by Metallica, its them playing with a symphony, and it sounds great.

I do like Metallica a lot. I don't know if I've heard much S&M, though.

while not heavy metal, they are heavily influenced. you can hear the sabbath coming from much of their music - especially stuff off of their first album, and their latest album that just came out. Billy can really shred

Another heavy metal fan here, been into the music since I was 12 (so that's 24 years running). My tastes started with Def Leppard, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Accept, and Saxon and then moved onward through Metallica, Fates Warning, Dream Theater, Solitude Aeturnus, Candlemass and thousands of other acts.

Right now I love traditional metal, power metal, doom and some of the more female-fronted acts as I write reviews for a couple of online webzines.

Matt

I mostly like hard rock and heavy metal, industrial artists: AC/DC, W.A.S.P., Dream Theater, Ministry, Sick Puppy, NIN, Perfect Circle, Megadeth, Linkin Park, Apocalyptica, Metallica, Korn, Sepultura....

Maybe my most favorite band is Megadeth, for all Duke Nukem fans:

yeh im into heavy metal. maybe a bit heavier than some of the bands mentioned here. i guess when it all comes down to it there are so many metal genres.

favourites are;

In Flames
Killswitch Engage
Chimaira
Parkway Drive

but also love the more common ones such as Pantera, Sepultura etc.

I mostly like the more interesting metal sub-genres, for example, I absolutely love album "Ultimate Darkness" from DarkSeed, it has incredible texts too. SpiRitual is a similar band with ethnic influences. Check this out: YouTube - Pulse video clip

DeadLock is another cool band, you do not see vegan philosophy combined with harsh melodic metal music too often, enhanced by awesome female vocal. Check it out as well: YouTube - DEADLOCK - Code Of Honor. Heck, I could even create an extra thread about DeadLock

Of course, I like LOADS of other bands, but I thought I should share something interesting.
