Default How I almost died from free running :)

It was a three story building, and I’m hanging on the side of the building with no safety gear on. Any moment now I can fall to my death. Damn! I can’t get up!

Here I was, 15 meters up the air with nothing but two side of the walls where I braced myself using both my arms and legs.It is called Free Running, a “sport” of some sort where people climb to great heights and jump off it without any safely gear. It’s part art and part macho-ism.

So there was this three story building at this university that I always wanted to scale, as my ultimate challenge. It was tall and daunting – how are you suppose to scale it with no ropes anyways? But around the corner of the building there are two walls, about a meter apart, perfect for me to use it to brace myself and climb up to the roof.

For what? It’s a challenge!

So I climbed it, inching my way to the 3 floor. The surface was made out of brick, but the last meter of the surface was made out of cement, which made scaling it next to impossible because my foot would slip. I didn’t put that into my calculation when I started scaling the building, so my only choice would to be go down.

Downing was 10 times harder then going up, because I had to extra strength to prevent gravity from pulling me down to the jagged rocks below. I slowly inched all the way down to the second floor before my muscles gave way and I fell 7 meters onto my ass.

I got away from the daring 3 story building scaling attempt with a sprain ankle.

What saved me from possible death or a broke leg is one pointed concentration on getting down.

okay so it's about macho-ism and getting a kick out of it, but err, how about "think before you act"?
But I'm sure you know that now.

Anyway, glad you survived. Maybe be sure you have a friend around on your next endeavor?

Interesting... I thought free running was the same thing as parkour but wikipedia has separate articles for both... I still don't think free running is all about jumping off from heights and backflips.

Good for you that you're still alive though. When I was younger, I was always fascinated by heights; I was kinda scared of heights but always wondered about how high I could jump off to live and tell the tale... 15 metres is still way beyond my scale though.
