Exactly. They are like some kind of reptilian spies from another dimension, watching us...biding their time before they rise up, grow into humungous beasts and devour us all.

There were a couple that did have really cute looks on their faces though, I'll give you that.

Yes. Isn't it suspicious that they're amphibians that live their entire lives in the larval stage? It's as you say, they're not really unable to metamorphose... they're just biding their time.

In the series Planet Earth with David Attenborough, they say there were miniature, knee-high elephants in Sicily about 10,000 years ago. I never forgot that one. I just imagine tiny elephants walking around in the streets on a leash and getting woken up by my elephant trumpeting in the morning.
