Default Mounds Mystery

Mounds was a very prolific poster here and most recently a moderator. If anyone knows why he upped and left without so much as a fare thee well, I would like to know. I've never seen someone formally retire before.

If no one knows, I think it's worth speculating why someone might do this. Excluding some dire personal emergency, or falling out with forum staff, I'd like to think that he rode off like Matt Damon at the end of Good Will Hunting. To devote everything to pursuing his true goals and stop futzing around in the comfort zone.

Sometimes I feel like I'm going around in circles like a self-help junkie and not really accomplishing much. Steve himself has stopped reading and posting in the forums (except the blog). Could it be that much as we enjoy it, some of us need to cold turkey and plow all our energies into real life?

I know exactly where Mounds is, but it's confidential information.

Yes it's all very hush-hush, isn't it? On the QT. Cloak and dagger. Ix-nay on the ounds-May.

What is he 007 or something?

Anyway, I'm off to my own adventures. (I'm really Catwoman, but keep it on the DL)

There's been several formal retirements here . . . some members seem to find it easier to take a long or even a permanent break from the forum if they make a formal retirement.

Also just because members leave here doesn't mean they've given up all message boards Some members find other forums a better fit.

I agree it was a bit odd that he basically said nothing and just left (although maybe he did say something as I have barely been using the forums myself anymore, although I may make a return in the near future.) But from frequently being in the same threads as and conversing with Mounds when he was her I speculate he made the kind of sweeping and effective changes he wished to make in his life, and simply chose to spend more time continuing that path, and living with passion, and less reading and writing on forums.

I must admit that I often wish that when people reach this point that they stick around (even if it's just a little) and share their wisdom however I can't fault him for not. I wish him luck where ever he is.

He did say goodbye formally in the Mods forum. He felt that he was along a totally different path and decided to pursue it fully.
