Default State Your Unpopular Opinions

I stole this idea from a vegan forum I was checking out. (Link for reference).

I really liked the OP's opinions, which were indeed very unpopular. I hereby state my favourite of his unpopular opinions here to be considered an opinion of my own:
Quote:
2) Pedophilia is a sexual orientation, not a mental illness. Prejudice and discrimination against non-active pedophiles is as morally wrong as prejudice and discrimination against homosexuals or any other minority. Furthermore, simulated child porn should be legal. Computer generated images are not sentient beings, they do not have interests that we're morally obligated to protect. There is no logical reason to illegalize simulated, child porn if no actual child was involved in it's making, some people have a hysterical, emotional response to the issue of pedophilia that prevents them from analyzing the issue without bias.
Some other unpopular opinions (this time from me directly):

1) Prostitution and all drugs should be legal. If a law can't be enforced, all your attempts to enforce it just drain public money, and attempting to enforce it only creates money for organised crime, then god damn it should not exist.

I don't care one way or another if guns are legal or illegal, but I have to point out that they directly contribute to hurting people (hurting people other than the user) much more than prostitution and drugs.

3) The eduction system brainwashes people. If you disagree with this, it's because you've been brainwashed.

4. If it's illegal to torture a dog, it should be illegal to torture a pig or a cow. Just sayin'.

1) Nudity should be legal in all public places, though sexual gestures should be kept illegal in most public places.

Allowing Child nudity should be legal as well, it's crazy how it is in the US where children have to avoid seeing anyone naked. When I was a kid in France, I saw plenty of naked people, including my parents, and it was totally fine. I went to nude beaches as well. I grew up with a healthy respect for nudity, unlike a lot of American kids who only started seeing nudity when they started having sex or watching porn. That is, allowing kids to see nudity will allow them to grow up with a separation of nudity from sex as those two things are actually different.

It will also help people feel more comfortable with their own body, instead of being ashamed of how their body looks naked. When you've seen a lot of different nude sizes and shapes in real life, instead of only seeing the idealized body in porn movies, then you are a lot more comfortable being seeing nude yourself.

2) No legal age on drinking. Again, in America the age to drink is 21, which also means kids grow up without having a clear understanding of how to drink without getting drunk. My parents started giving me wine when I was a kid (prolly 8-10 years old) in small dosage, and by the time I was 21, I was a helluva lot more responsible than most of those Americans who had to learn drinking by sneaking it or waiting until they were 21.

In my informal asking around when I used to have a lot of international student friends, those who come from countries where a legal age of alcohol is enforced tend to create young adults who are completely out of control on alcohol and get drunk a lot, whereas those who come from countries where they can drink from an early age learn to drink alcohol in reasonable dosage and got drunk a hell of a lot fewer times than the former type of students.

3) Throw out all DUI laws. I don't believe in DUI - which is a non-crime in my view. The crime is crashing and hurting other people. Prosecute those who hurt others, not those who can handle their alcohol.

Isn't DUI what causes people to crash and hurt others though? Even those who can 'handle their alcohol' are still a risk on the roads. Cars are a dangerous weapon, and anyone driving drunk is not at their full capacity, so basically that means you've got someone with only half their brain on behind the wheel of a loaded gun. Would you also trust a drunk person with a loaded gun?

That's my unpopular view for the day.

Oh, also, if you lived in my town your opinion would be the popular one, not the unpopular one.

You must have a very unusual town if my opinion on DUI is popular in your town. Most people I know are totally in support of DUI laws and regard me as crazy for being against them.

Monogamy should be banished.

As should procreation for some people.

Some people should be sterilized.

Even though I eat meat, killing animals is horribly wrong…

I think that's about it.

It is a very unusual town, you're right. Even the junkies are friendly and polite here. I once had a bicycle thief walk past, as I was unchaining mine from the post, and say "you're lucky, I was about to steal that bike" and smiled as he kept walking...I think he meant it to. Even the thieves are open and honest here.

Co-habitation is a crazy and silly idea.

men and women need to go back to tribal arrangements where the men hang out with men and women hang out with women and occasionally they get together to have sex, maybe even pro-create, and then go back to their own seperate tribes. This is a sane way to live.

-There are too many kids. By not having kids I am helping the population issue in the world.

-It's ok to be selfish and want to have a life and not sacrifice yours to have kids.

-People don't deserve this planet.

-Not voting is saying NO to lies.

-Rep threads are silly.

-Football is boring.

-Society is one big asylum full of people who don't even know they are insane...and it's run by insane criminals.

-As Andrew said, the current education system is a factory that breeds automatons. Home-schooling is the better option.

-It's ok to abandon your parents if they consistently treat you like ****.

-computers are the Devil, and they suck the life out of us.

Wow, I think I have too many to list all at once. I'll just go with one that covers many.

The worst social impact of the Bush era was probably the subsequent backlash against even the positive aspects of traditional values, since people now erroneously attribute said values to bigotry and neoconservatism.

1) The **** is slowly and gradually hitting the fan. We never recovered from the 2008 crash, we just managed to shovel the tide back a bit, and soon it will come crashing in, we have tough times ahead at least 4-5 year depression and maybe longer. By the time we start getting our **** together here, peak oil will be having a big effect on the world. Our global political system isn't coordinated enough to stop climate change, and we'll see at least the 2 degree increase that people want to avoid, with some countries swallowed up by the sea, mass migration, changes in food production, and all the rest of it.

2) All the above is a good thing.

Junk food and soft drinks like Coca Cola should be illegal.
They are far more addictive and dangerous than many illegal drugs.

Marriage should be a 10 year contract. After that it automatically expires. and you become single again. No messy divorce needed.
You can always renew for another 10 year, if you like.

They have a similar system in the Celtic culture of Wicca, whereby a couple are declared married for a whole year and one day and by then, theoretically, they should have a good idea as to whether they really are made for each other and want to continue being together their whole lives...it's sort of like a trial run, and you can walk away after the 366th day.

The price of a food should according to the amount of calories in the specific food.

So KFC and m&ms would be very expensive and organic spinach would be very cheap.
That would solve America's overweight epidemic and many health problems.
The poor would be healthy.

Currently it seems to be exactly the other way around...
